How to Feel Good About Yourself & Kick Ass in All Aspects of Life
Confidence has so much more power than you think. Learning how to feel good about yourself can open up more doors that'll allow you to own your life.
Insecurity sucks. We all have it to some degree but if we could get rid of it entirely, we all would. That being said, some of you may be struggling even more than anyone else. Knowing how to feel good about yourself no matter what is definitely something you'll want to learn.
Because you need to love yourself. No matter what you want to do in life, confidence will help you immensely. And conversely, feeling crappy about yourself more often than not will hold you back.
Beating yourself up mentally every day will only make things harder
There are a lot of people who know they have confidence issues and then continuously put themselves down. If you're someone who's thinking, “you're so insecure it's unattractive,” or “nobody is going to like you,” or “you can never be as confident as that person,” then you're doing yourself no favors.
In fact, you're just adding to the problem. The more your brain hears something, the more it'll believe it. If you're always telling yourself you're not good enough, you'll start to think it's true even if it's absolutely false. The first thing you have to do is stop mentally putting yourself down.
How to feel good about yourself so you can conquer life
We all go through periods of life where we're insecure about ourselves. But if this is all the time for you and you just can't seem to get your mojo back, these tips can help.
#1 Quit it with the negativity. I mean it. Stop thinking in a negative way. If you only ever have awful thoughts about yourself, those are the only thoughts you'll remember and continue thinking. So just stop. Whenever you have a negative thought, turn it into a positive.
#2 Be more positive. This is in every aspect of your life, too. Don't just be more positive in how you think about yourself, but also how you think about others. Choose to see their strengths instead of their flaws.
We often look at the weaknesses in others in order to make ourselves feel better, but that just reinstates our own insecurities. So be more positive and that energy will change how you feel about yourself.
#3 Do something about the things you can change. If you're unhappy with how much fat is on your body or how out of shape you are or anything that's easily changed, then do it. Stop complaining about it and put those words into action. Eat better, exercise more, and that will teach you how to feel good about yourself.
#4 Ignore the things you can't change. You can't change everything. Sure, plastic surgery exists but it's expensive and quite honestly, pointless. Having surgery will only change how you look, not how you feel. So ignore the things you can't change. They're not important to who you are.
#5 Focus on bettering your internal health. When you eat better and exercise and drink more water, you'll feel better about yourself. Treating your body nicely will result in you feeling so much more confident. Focus on your health and your mental health will follow.
#6 Lift others up. If you drag people down in an attempt to make yourself feel better, it's actually doing the opposite. Some part of you will sit there and feel awful for doing so. This just starts a cycle of internal hate and dissatisfaction.
Instead, lift other people up. Tell them stuff you wish others would say to you. Making them feel more confident can actually make you feel better about yourself, too.
#7 Do some self reflecting. This might be a bit painful, but it's necessary. Think about why you feel so down about yourself. What do you dislike most? Knowing what that is can help you figure out where to start on your journey to learning how to feel good about yourself.
#8 Take some chances. I know this sounds odd and like it wouldn't be much help, but trust me. Take a few risks. Go out there and take chances. Sure, some won't pay off but others will. And when you get that first win, it'll build your confidence a LOT.
#9 Get support from friends and family. You might think it's embarrassing to seek help for not being confident but it's not. Your friends and family have all been there. They might even be worse off than you. Seeking help from them will show you just how much you're loved and that alone can do a lot for you.
#10 Recognize your strengths. You have them. You have many. All you have to do is sit down and make a list. What are the things you love most about yourself? Think of every single thing you can. Then read it. And then read it again. Memorize it and recall those things when you're feeling down.
#11 Stop looking at social media stars. Everyone who's popular on social media for being good looking doesn't use real photos. They've had makeup teams, photographers, and many filters to look that good. Spending so much time looking at what you want will only make you feel bad about what you have.
#12 Accept yourself as you are. There's nothing that'll make you feel better about yourself than accepting who you are. You're not changing. Yes, you can become more confident but deep down, you're the same person. Own it. Love yourself.
#13 Conquer some fears. If you really want to know how to feel good about yourself, go conquer a fear. It can be anything, really. Doing it will leave you feeling like you won a million dollars. Knowing that you accomplished something that terrifying will show you how much strength you truly have.
#14 Stop blaming yourself. For anything. Don't take the blame for the stuff that wasn't your fault. Your ex didn't leave you because you're not fit enough. You didn't NOT get the promotion because you're too stupid. That's not how it works. Doing this will only make you feel worse about yourself.
#15 Continuously work toward confidence. This isn't something you can just do for a little while and then forget about. That's not the way confidence works. You have to be working on bettering yourself all the time.
In order to learn how to feel good about yourself, you have to recognize that it's a continuous learning process. You'll figure out what works best for you and what makes you feel good over time.
If you want to know how to feel good about yourself, focus on ridding your life of negativity and only pay attention to the good parts of you. We can't change everything about who we are. So learn to love you as is and you'll feel amazing.
