20 She May Have Been Involved With Joaquin Phoenix
The two starred together in the amazing movie, Walk the Line and there was a lot of talk that they had gotten together at some point. They certainly made movie magic together and would make a cute couple.
“I think everyone really likes a story where you see a guy go from nothing - or a girl - and accomplish things we don't feel capable of doing ourselves. But also the love story thing… I really like in this film that it is realistic and portrays sort of a real marriage, a real relationship where there are forbidden thoughts and fallibility," Reese said, as reported by Thought Co. "And it is about compassion in the long haul, not just the short easy solutions to problems.”
19 She Has A Fashion Line Called Draper James
If you have ever seen a dress on social media that Reese Witherspoon was wearing, it's likely from her Draper James brand. The cute shirt that she is wearing in this photo is from her personal line, FYI. She is often seen wearing the clothes on her social media.
The clothes definitely have her conservative and elegant Southern flare to them. We're not sure how she does it all because she seems to have quite the empire going. Even her daughter is now modeling her clothes.
18 She Wrote A Book
As if she wasn't busy enough, this year Reese Witherspoon wrote a book called Whiskey in A Teacup. It's a fun little book that gives you a glimpse into her life as well as offering you cool recipes and teaching you how to curl your hair to get the amazing curls that she has. She even went on a nine-city book tour this year, and we are shocked at how she is able to juggle it all. It's a great book for anyone that's a fan!
17 She Made Headlines
You might think that Reese Witherspoon would be the last person that would ever get arrested but you would be wrong. In 2014 a video was leaked of a drunk Reese Witherspoon talking to the cops and saying the infamous words, “You're about to find out who I am. I'm Reese Witherspoon." The cops didn't seem to care and took her and her husband in.
Later, Reese apologized for her conduct and said the incident was a wake-up call.
"We thought we were okay to drive but we definitely were not," she said, as Glamour reports. "We are just so sorry this happened. We know better than that. It's something that will absolutely never happen again.”
16 Her Relationship With Her Daughter
Seriously, how adorable are these two together? Her daughter, Ava, just got into modeling this year. She looks like both her parents, but when she's alongside her mom, it's a striking picture.
Reese has spoken pretty openly about motherhood. Before her daughter was leaving for college, Independent reported Reese as saying,
"She's my best friend and we do everything together, it's going to be hard for her to leave [for college]! I alternate between crying and feeling really proud of the woman she's become.
It's so weird. I can't believe she's [going to be] 18. She's great, and we did it together. I feel like we grew up together, it's great."
15 She Is Part Of A Great Cause
There are a few great causes that Reese is involved with but one of them is called Girls Inc and it's all about supporting the well-being of young girls. I've loved meeting girls all over the U.S. who are benefitting from the programming Girls Inc. provides. Please consider supporting Girls Inc. in their mission to make sure all girls grow up healthy, educated and independent. Today @draperjames is giving back 100% of profits from their Sisterhood Collection!”
14 She Was On The TV Show Friends
Big Little Lies wasn't her first TV role. In fact, back in the day Reese starred in Friends for a couple of episodes. She played Rachel's sister, Jill. She was so cute back then! She is still good friends with Jennifer Aniston and the two of them are currently working on another TV series that will star both of them. As Hollywood Reporter states, it's a show that's going to explore TV morning shows.
13 She Has A Podcast Show
Actresses with their own podcast shows seem to be the new thing. We have seen Anna Faris do it and now Reese Witherspoon has her own show. It's called Shine On With Reese and she recently had Pink on her show. She captioned this photo with “What a ride! Thank you @Pink for taking me to new levels (Even though I was completely terrified!) you are such an inspiring artist, mother and all around incredible performer.”
12 She Reviews Books For Fun
For anyone that has written a book, you might want to send it to Reese Witherspoon's book club, Hello Sunshine! She often posts on social media about the books that she is reading and what she thinks of them. We're sure that the authors really appreciate her support. As usual, her photographs show off a smiling, picture-perfect woman who loves to read. She has previously stated that she wishes that she could go to a cabin just to read with, “no emails, no text messages and no obligations or deadlines,” The New York Times reports.
11 She Used To Be A Cheerleader
We're not really surprised. She seems like the type of girl that could put on a good cheer. She just has that peppy attitude that you would expect from the head cheerleader. For Witherspoon, she was a cheerleader for the wrestling team. Which is a little weird but apparently, they have cheerleaders for all sports. “In the South, you have a cheerleader for basically everything,” she said, as Parade reports. She sure looks happy doing it, that's for sure.

There is Southern fried chicken as well as homemade biscuits. Yum!
9 She Knows Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton is a living legend and we are so jealous that Reese knows her. She also had Dolly on her podcast show and that might be the best part of having a podcast. On the show Dolly praised what Whitney Houston did with her song, I Will Always Love You. “She took [the song] to so many levels,” Parton said. “To think that my little song - my little heartfelt, heartbreaking song - could be that big, I felt that I had arrived as a writer.”
8 She Owns Her Own Production Company
Reese is definitely a powerhouse and hopefully, she has a lot of people working for her because we don't know how she manages her life. She also has a production company called Type A films. In 2012 she took it and merged it with Bruna Papandrea's Make Movies to create a company called Pacific Standard, Revolvy reports. They have been responsible for producing movies such as Wild, Gone Girl, Hot Pursuit, and the TV series Big Little Lies.
"I'm trying to take the stigma off the word [ambitious] so we encourage more little girls to be ambitious, because I do think that's how society will change."
The company split up in 2016, but Reese still produces movies under the name Hello Sunshine.
7 Reese Is Not Her Real Name
Hold the phone. It's true, Reese was not born with that name and like many actors over the years, she changed her name so that it was more “Hollywood.” Can you guess what her name used to be? Laura. So where did she come up with the name Reese?
She was born Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon and Reese is actually her mother's maiden name.
Which is a pretty cool thing for her to honour her mother with.
6 She Manages Stress With Hypnotism
Whether you believe in hypnotism or not, Reese sure does. There was a time when Reese felt frazzled and stressed out. She decided she was going to work with a hypnotist to calm her nerves, and it helped her when filming the movie, Wild."[Hypnosis] was so helpful," she said, as Kpopstarz reports.
"I get panic attacks, especially right before I start a movie. Half the time on set I feel like I'm hanging on by the seat of my pants and I don't know what the heck I am doing."
At least she found a way to cope with it all.
5 She Goes To Church Regularly
She takes her children to church regularly because she feels it's important for them to believe in something outside of themselves. As a Southern girl, it was also part of her own upbringing and belief system. “I take the kids to church and Sunday school," Brainy Quote has reported Reese as saying.
"They love it. I really think it's important for a child to feel that there are things that are bigger than your life out there.”
It sure doesn't hurt to bring your children to a wholesome environment.
4 She Almost Got Cast In Clueless
It's hard to picture anyone else playing Cher in Clueless other than Alicia Silverstone. But Reese Witherspoon was actually considered for the role. Reese met with director Amy Heckerling to discuss the role of Cher Horowitz. In the end, it was decided that Alicia would be the best person for the job.
“I met with Reese because everyone said, 'This girl's amazing. She's going to be huge,'” Amy said, as reported by NME. “I saw some movie where she had a southern accent. Maybe it was on TV, a movie of the week. But I did see some scenes of hers and went: Wow. She's amazing. But Alicia is Cher.”
3 She Almost Became A Doctor
Both of her parents are doctors and when she was growing up, Reese learned all about how important it was to help others. For a while Reese thought that she would also become a doctor, but she decided to chase after a different dream.
“I had parents who believed I could do anything and I know how that made me feel," Brainy Quote reports Reese as saying.
"I think both my parents, having careers in the medical profession, feel they are helping people on a daily basis, and that was inculcated in me as a value. I had to struggle with giving up the idea of becoming a doctor myself.”
Looks like she's made quite a career for herself, though. “As an artist, I feel more strongly than ever that my job on earth is to tell the stories of the invisibles, and women have been invisible on film for a long time.”
2 She Met Her Husband When His Friend Was Hitting On Her
Oh, don't you just love a “how did they meet” story? Reese actually met her husband, Justin, when his friend was hitting on her.
“This really [annoying] guy was hitting on me, making such an idiot of himself, yelling at me. He was like [slurring, scowling, pointing finger in her face], 'You don't know me.' And I was like, 'Yeah, I know. I don't know you!'” Reese told Elle.
“Jim came over and said, 'Please excuse my friend. He's just broken up with someone.'
And I remember thinking, 'His friend is such an ass. What a jerk. And that Jim was a really good friend, pulling him out of that situation.'”
1 She's The Perfect Person To Host Your Parties
If you learn anything from Reese's social media posts, it's that she would be the perfect host for any party. Her home looks just as picture perfect as she does and it's obvious she loves to entertain. She takes care of everyone in her home and loves every minute of it.
“I think women are natural caretakers. They take care of everybody," she said, as reported by BlackFilm. “They take care of their husbands and their kids and their dogs, and don't spend a lot of time just getting back and taking time out.”
