Let's be honest, social media is primarily a tool for showing off, which is why most peoples lives look so perfect on it. And celebrities love to use social media because after all, their lifestyles have a lot of aspects that are worthy of showing off. It also allows them to connect with fans and promote their brands.

But even with all of these good things that social media does for a celebrity, it is a double-edged sword. And sometimes, celebrities have posted content on their own social media accounts that they later realize they don't want out there.

An average person can post something on social media and take it off and probably get away with that being the end of it. But celebrities, with their massive social media followings, who post questionable content often get screengrabbed by tons of viewers within seconds. And the post will live on the internet forever after that. Celebrities are human after all, and a lot of them have made the mistake of posting something online then regretting it. And as much as we love celebrities, we love when they make a mistake and do something embarrassing. Lucky for us, all of these photos still live on the internet for us.

15 Megan Markle Is Off Social Media Forever!

Megan Markle was quite the social media queen before she had to leave it all behind to become a real-life royalty. According to the British publication in The Independent, like with the rest of the members of the British Royal Family, the only social media updates the public will get about Megan will be from the official Facebook page of Kensington Palace.

Megan was quite active on social media, she even had her own lifestyle blog called The Tig. Fans should not be too upset about it though because as a royal family member, which she will officially become in May this year, she will still have a huge public profile and they will still be able to keep up with her. Her public profile is just going to have a different role from when she was just a Hollywood actress, now she is becoming British royalty.

All the photos that she had previously showcased on her social media can be found on the internet thanks to devoted fans who screenshot them. According to People, this statement was released on Megan's behalf when all of her accounts were deleted. "Ms. Markle is grateful to everyone who has followed her social media accounts over the years, However as she has not used them for some time she has taken the decision to close them."

14 Ashley Benson Posted A Picture Mocking Amanda Bynes And Quickly Met The Wrath Of The Internet

This is one of those situations where a celebrity posted a photo that was totally in bad taste, and then due to the backlash from the public deleted it. Even though she would probably love for you to think she took it down on her own accord. But the damage was already done.

According to Huffington Post a few years ago, Amanda Bynes was going through a very public downward spiral and a lot of it was done on social media, such as posting the above photo. It was clear to everyone that Amanda was not being funny and joking around, but was experiencing some very real mental health-related issues.

Ashley Benson took it upon herself to post a photo imitating Amanda, and people rightfully saw it as her making fun of someone who was struggling.

It didn't help that Ashley captioned the photo "Doing my Amanda Bynes look this afternoon." The final nail in the coffin is that according to Huffington Post Amanda had been hospitalized for mental health issues just two days before this photo was posted. Whether Ashley took it down because she realized how insensitive of a post it was or because of the backlash, we will never know. But it is telling she would post it in the first place.

13 You Won't Find This Picture Of Taylor Swift Supporting Her Ex-Boyfriend On Her Instagram Anymore

Where would we be without Taylor Swift and all her romantic drama? Taylor Swift and DJ Calvin Harris dated a couple years back from 2015-2016 and the relationship, like a lot of Taylor's relationships, did end in quite the messy way. According to Cosmopolitan, while initially Taylor and Calvin split amicably, with Calvin tweeting very diplomatically about the split that "The only truth is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect." Taylor even retweeted the statement.

Things did not remain so friendly for long, though. Calvin deleted the friendly tweet statement about their break-up and took some jabs at Taylor. According to Hollywood Life, the trigger that set off all the bad blood was Taylor being photographed kissing actor Tom Hiddleston a short two weeks after her split from Calvin was announced.

Taylor and Calvin both cleansed their entire social media of any traces of each other. One picture that perished in this purge was the above one, of Taylor looking like a stunned fan girl at Calvin Harris's concert. No room for pictures like that after their falling out! In the end, though, the two seemed to have cleared the air between them and while they are not friends, it does not seem that they have any bad feelings between each other.

12 Justin Posts And Deletes A Cheeky Picture

While most celebrities end up deleting pictures they posted to social media because of negative backlash from the public, Justin deleted a picture of his that mostly received a standing ovation from his general following. Justin posted a picture of himself with a beautiful view in the background, and while most of the world applauded the picture, he felt the need to take the cheeky photo down.

The full photo he posted exposed more than he was clearly willing to share - even the beautiful natural backdrop of the pic could not take eyes off the rest of what was captured.

According to Hollywood Life, Justin took the picture down and commented “Hey I Deleted the photo of my [explicit content] on Instagram not because I thought it was bad but someone close to me's daughter follows me and she was embarrassed that she saw my [explicit content] and I totally wasn't thinking in that aspect. And I felt awful. To anyone I may have offended I'm so sorry, It was completely pure-hearted as a joke but didn't take in account there are littles following me!!! Love u guys."

At least while the picture does not live currently on Justin's social media, the full picture does exist on the internet forever for whoever needs an occasional pick me up.

11 Miley Posted A Picture Of New Tattoo But Got The Planet Wrong In Her Description

This was an embarrassing mistake for Miley, but a funny one for the rest of us. If you are a fan of Miley Cyrus you are probably familiar with the fact that she has a lot of tattoos. And she is very proud of the artwork she has permanently inked onto her body, and she should be!

But she should also make sure that she know's what she is getting inked on to her body forever, at least so she can describe it properly on social media to people.

According to Time, Miley posted the above picture to her Instagram account and captioned it '#lilbbjupiter'. She was implying that the planet she had tattooed on herself was the planet Jupiter, which anyone that paid attention in grade 3 science class can tell you it was not Jupiter, but Saturn. And Saturn is known for its rings so it's kind of a big mistake to make!

Of course, no mistake goes unnoticed on Instagram and one this big was not going to squeak by. When Miley realized what her mistake was thanks to everyone commenting on her post, she deleted it and later uploaded it again with no caption. Probably hoping we would pretend the first caption never happened, but the internet remembers everything, Miley. It always remembers.

10 Brielle Was Obviously Not Happy With This Picture Her Mom Posted Because It Disappeared Rather Quickly

The Zolciak-Biermanns are a reality TV family known for their matching blonde aesthetic and big lips. Kim became famous thanks to being cast on the Real Housewives Of Atlanta and she actually met her current husband Kroy on the show, so fans of the show all watched their love story begin. They had a quick romance that led to marriage, and now it is 6 years later and they have four kids together along with Kim's two older daughters from previous relationships.

Oldest daughter Brielle has come under a lot of heat for trying to emulate her Mother's look and has faced a lot of scrutiny for plastic surgery.

According to InTouch Weekly, Kim posted the above photo with her husband Kroy and Brielle, and then quickly took it down. A lot of the comments were accusing Brielle of getting plastic surgery and the brunt of the issue people have with it is that she is still so young - only 21 years old.

Brielle only willing showcases her face and admit to any work done to it when she is looking her best, which we don't blame her for. They don't pay all that money to look good to then have bad pictures of them online!

Selena Gomez is known for her sweet, clean-cut, girl-next-door image. Even though she has had romances with some of Hollywood's most notorious bad boys - Justin Bieber and The Weeknd to name a few - she has always kept a squeaky clean image. So when she posted the above sultry photo to her Instagram, it was a bit too much for her public image to handle.

According to Nova696, Selena posted this morning Snap to her Instagram, and the full photo showcases more of Selena than fans are used to seeing. Maybe she was still half asleep and not totally thinking clearly? And we have to admit, she definitely looks super cute in it so we can't blame her for wanting to share her look with the world. We wish we looked that cute after waking up!

Selena deleted the picture not too long after posting it, even though the photo had amassed a total of 1 million likes! Maybe she was worried that it was just too spicy for the entire public to handle, but in the last couple of years Selena has definitely come out of her good girl shell more and more and showcased more sides to herself, especially through her music and music videos.

Blac Chyna has definitely taken a page from her former in-laws' book and she shares a lot of her life on social media. From her kids to her looks to her work, she shares it all on Instagram and Twitter. She is working hard to build that Blac Chyna brand and you can tell that she is really following in the footsteps of her former sister-in-law, Kim Kardashian - well, trying really hard to follow into her footsteps.

But even though Blac Chyna seems very open with her life, clearly this throwback photo she posted of herself, before all the fame, was too much for her. According to InTouch Weekly, Blac Chyna posted the above photo of her younger self, and for some reason, she deleted it very quickly after doing so. We're not sure why though!

She looks adorable in the photo and it really shows that she is a natural beauty, regardless of any work she has had done since then.

And it's not like it is a negative photo that garnered a lot of backlash from the public. Perhaps we will never know why Chyna decided to take this photo off of her Instagram. Although it seems kind of pointless for celebs to delete photos from their social media since they must realize that someone has a screenshot of it.

When the whispers began that Selena was dating The Weeknd, people did not believe it at first. According to InTouch Weekly, The Weeknd uploaded the above photo of Selena admiring some art and fans that were following the development of their relationship were hoping this meant that they were confirming their relationship to the public. Well,

The Weeknd deleted the photo soon after uploading it so fans did not get the confirmation they were looking for, at least not from this photo. According to Vulture, they would not confirm their relationship officially until they showed up to the 2017 Met Gala together and made their red carpet debut. The two have since broken, with their relationship lasting less than a year. Zayn definitely seems to have a type - blonde and gorgeous, and we can't blame him. Before dating supermodel of the world, Gigi Hadid, Zayn was engaged to Perrie Edwards from the British girl group Little Mix. What a lot of people may not realize, even Zayn fans may not realize because it happened so quickly, is that there was a girl between Perrie and Gigi - the beautiful blonde specimen you see in the above photo.

According to Nova696 Zayn uploaded the pic with the mysterious blonde to his Instagram, and it definitely does not look like the two are just platonic friends. Do you hold your friends like that? Well Zayn obviously felt a certain way after uploading the picture, and he later took it off without any explanation as to who the lady was.

These celebrities obviously realize that their every move on social media is being watched and anything they do, even if it is deleted seconds after will be saved forever. So you would think all these celebrities that get photo regret after posting would think more about posting the picture in the first place! 4 Teen Mom 2 Star Leah Messer Posts & Deletes Rumored One-Time Boyfriend

If you watch Teen Mom 2 you are familiar with Leah and her story. She had her twin girls when she was still a teenager, quickly married their dad - but the marriage did not last. After that marriage failed, Leah met and fell in love with Jeremy Calvert and got married to him, and they share a daughter together as well.

It seemed like after those two failed marriages that Leah took a break from dating to focus on her daughters. She was dealing with a lot of judgment from the public for having two failed marriages and three young daughters under her belt.

According to InTouch Weekly, Leah did have a man around that she just did not let film on her show and never really made public.

She did post the above photo to her Instagram and she clearly could not handle the heat of people question who he is and also attacking her about jumping into another relationship so she quickly took it down. So even though some supportive fans though this was Leah finally coming out with her new relationship, she never kept the picture up and never confirmed that she was ever in a relationship with anyone after ending her marriage to Jeremy.

3 Vanessa Hudgens Makes An Instagram Post That Cost Her $1k

Vanessa Hudgens made a big mistake, and she could have gotten away with it if she had not posted it on Instagram. People, unfortunately, deface things in nature all the time, and park authorities have a difficult time finding a person that has damaged a tree or has scratched something silly into a rock. But Vanessa was caught red-handed, and she actually implicated herself in the crime.

According to the Daily Mail, she was hiking with her boyfriend in a national park in northern Arizona that had the infamous red rocks that the southwestern United States are known for. They are gorgeous, unique expressions of nature and they are heavily protected. Something that Vanessa obviously was not aware of…

Well, she carved her name and her boyfriend's name into the rock and posted it to Instagram. Followers quickly realized this was illegal and called her out on it, and she deleted the photo. Too late! It was already on the National Park Service's radar. Vanessa cooperated with the authorities and told them she used a rock to do the carving, and where to find the rock in the park so that it could be scrubbed clean. She also had to pay a $1K fine that went towards cleaning the rock. She definitely learned an expensive and embarrassing lesson.

2 James Franco Posted More Than A Few Weird Pictures When He Still Had Instagram

It was hard to choose which picture of James Franco to use for this because when he still had his Instagram account there was an array of interesting pictures that he uploaded. He really enjoyed uploading pictures where he looked kind of greasy and sweaty, like the one above. He did not delete the photos because he was embarrassed or because he couldn't handle the comments from the public - he actually deleted his entire Instagram in 2017 according to Too Fab. 

According to an interview with Variety, James got rid of his Instagram because "It's very liberating… I just got rid of it. When I first got on [Instagram], it just felt silly. I treated it like it was a joke. You get in that weird seductive space where it feels private, but it's also public. And you get hooked on the reaction."

He does admit that the above photo almost cost him a contract with Gucci, who warned him against posting such unflattering photos to Instagram.

At least while he was working with them because they did not want their brand associated with that aesthetic, which is not surprising at all and we don't blame Gucci.

1 Blake Lively Got Rid Of Her Entire Instagram Recently, Thankfully We Have The Important Pictures Saved

The above photo is from a Red Carpet event from a couple of years ago. Unlike the other posts on this list, Blake Lively did not delete it soon after the picture was posted. It lived happily on her Instagram until she very recently deleted her entire Instagram.

According to Cosmopolitan, Blake Lively surprised her fans when she totally cleaned up her Instagram and unfollowed everyone including her husband, and only followed women whose names were Emily Nelson on Instagram.

She also changed her Instagram bio to say 'What happened to Emily… ?' While the Emily Nelsons on Instagram were kind of creeped out when they noticed they were being followed by Blake, internet sleuths quickly found out that Blake was doing this to promote an upcoming movie of hers called A Simple Favor which is about a woman named Emily that goes missing.

So if you are worried about not having the same content that you are used to on Blake's Instagram, fret not - when the movie comes out and the campaign is over, we feel it is safe to say that everything will go back to normal on Blake's Instagram account.
