How to be More Interesting and Make Everyone Want to Know You
If you feel boring in comparison to others and want to know how to be more interesting, we've got what you need. Let's make people love you!
What makes you drawn to someone the most? Think about it. Is it their appearance or the fact that they hold themselves in a way that makes you want to know more. Those people know how to be more interesting and you could even learn a few things from them.
Because if you're here, then you want to be a more interesting person. You want to become someone others want to know more about. And for good reason. People who are interesting tend to attract more people and often lead happier lives due to their increased confidence.
Why do you feel boring in the first place?
It's important to think about why you want to learn how to be more interesting. Do you have a hard time making friends? Does everyone you go after romantically end up uninterested? Knowing the why can really help you figure out how.
So think about it. What's the appeal of being more interesting to you? If you only want to be more interesting so you have attention from people 24/7, that's not a very good reason and you won't likely work hard enough to make it happen.
How to be more interesting so you can impress and intrigue others
If you truly want to become more interesting, you can definitely do it. Just keep in mind that it might take some work and you may have to go outside your comfort zone. But if you're ready for all that, here's what to do.
#1 Pick up some extra hobbies. If you feel like you're a boring person, it's probably because you're bored. You don't do enough in life. So pick up a few extra hobbies.
Not only will it give you something to do, but it'll also give you more to talk about. When others ask about your life you can list off the different things you like to do. You'll get bonus points for odd or rare hobbies.
#2 Don't divulge your whole life story. People who are interesting tend to be a bit mysterious. It's like people can't quite fully understand them. That has a lot to do with the fact that they don't share every little thing.
So avoid going around spreading your whole life story. That's not really exciting and it can actually be a bit boring to others. Let them guess certain things about you and then tell them when they're wrong, but don't correct them. Leaving people with questions makes you interesting.
#3 Get to know people a bit deeper. Don't just stop talking to people on a surface-level. You have to dig a little deeper. The thing that makes most people think they're not interesting is because they don't show people who they truly are.
They never get talking on a deeper level. Now, this isn't the same as talking about your entire life story because you'll be discussing topics. Let people see who you truly are and you'll see that you're not boring - you just don't let people in.
#4 Learn a lot. The more you know, the more interesting you'll become. Having that wealth of knowledge is intriguing to people because it makes them wonder how you know everything.
They'll start to envision your life as one that's filled with adventure even if it's just filled with Google. Let them think that. Learn as much as you can and research random questions you have about life and how certain things work.
#5 Ask engaging questions. If you want to be interesting, you have to be interested first. That means making a point to ask others engaging questions. And they have to be more than just “yes” or “no” questions, too.
Make sure they're open-ended so you can actually have a meaningful conversation. The more you ask engaging questions that get more people involved in the discussion, the more you'll be seen as an interesting person.
#6 Have some confidence. If you sit there with your hands in your pockets and shoulders slumped, you won't seem very interesting. And that's likely what you're doing since you want to learn how to be more interesting.
You may be suffering with some insecurity and that doesn't help you seem interesting. Work on gaining confidence so you can approach people with an air that makes you seem important. The more important you seem, the more interesting you are.
#7 Talk about your hobbies and interests. Don't be afraid to open up about the stuff you enjoy. A lot of people can even feel insecure about their hobbies like it makes them weird to enjoy different things. That's just not the case.
The more you open up about the odd stuff you like, the more interesting you seem. So get talking about them! After you pick up a few more hobbies and choose some interesting ones, tons of people will want to know about them.
#8 Experience as much as you can. The more cool things you have to talk about, the more interesting you'll be. So get out of the house and actually do some stuff. You won't be very interesting if the only thing you can talk about is how you binged three series on Netflix in a week.
But if you go out on adventures and do interesting things, people will hang on your every word. So make a point to get out of the house more and you'll become more interesting.
#9 Listen to podcasts and other educational material. Basically, get more educated in any way you can. Podcasts are actually great ways to pick up knowledge that can not only help you in life, but give you material to impress other people with.
So instead of watching that show on Netflix for the tenth time, listen to a new podcast. Once again, having knowledge and things to discuss makes you interesting.
#10 Listen more intently to others. This might seem backward, but if you focus on making other people feel interesting, you'll become more interesting in the process. They'll be intrigued by you and the attention you're giving them.
So focus on paying attention and making other people feel important. Do this and they'll start to treat you the same way out of instinct.
Figuring out how to be more interesting isn't all that easy if you don't do much. The main idea is to get out there and be the type of person you'd find interesting.
