7 Ways to Make Dating a Music Lover More Fun!
Are you dating a music fanatic? If you aren't into music as much as your man, check out these 7 tips for dating your music-loving guru! By Charley Reid
Just because the guy you're dating might be obsessed with music, and you might not be, doesn't mean you two won't work out and have ever-lasting love. Music transcends time and boundaries. It connects two people in a way that's so visceral and so instinctual, that you just can't help but be drawn to each other.
How to date a music lover
If you're dating a music loving man, but you're running out of music-esque things you can enjoy together, try these 7 ideas below!
#1 Show up at shows. A show is usually a more intimate venue, whereas a concert takes place at a huge arena or stadium. It's the difference between a local coffee shop and Madison Square Garden in New York City. At shows, you get to see raw, real, true talent, the 'it' factor the artist carries before they let their egos get carried away.
Shows allow you to experience music the way it's supposed to be experienced, and it doesn't matter where you sit or stand, because if you're in the back of the room, you'll still be able to see. The best part of all is that shows tend to be way more budget friendly, therefore making it the perfect date night for you and your music loving man!
#2 Vinyl collecting. Vintage anything is pretty awesome, and music lovers are often obsessed with hard-to-find vintage vinyls. Vinyl oozes “cool.” A great date idea for dating your music man is to go check out your local thrift shops and old bookstores, browsing for vintage vinyls that would be a great addition to his collection.
The great thing about doing this is that not only will you find vinyls, but also you'll probably see a lot of other vintage things that you like, like vintage jewelry, clothing, cooking ware, and furniture, making it a win-win for both of you. And if you stumble across a Beatles vinyl, both of you would probably be pretty ecstatic with your find!
#3 Trivia time. Who doesn't love trivia? A great way for you and your man to do something you both can enjoy is by finding a local trivia night near you. It's not only a great way for you to test your knowledge, but it's also a great way to meet new people with common interests!
Trivia isn't limited to music categories only, but that's why it's such a great date idea because it's something you both can enjoy and do together. And, if they miss a question pertaining to music, don't feel bad for one second if you're secretly smiling on the inside a little. It's good to remember that no one is perfect!
#4 Ticket surprise. This isn't necessarily something you would do all the time, as this one is more for a special occasion or when you two just need a little boost in your relationship. But when you do get your partner a ticket to a concert he's been eyeing, it's sure to put a huge smile on your man's face!
You can make it even more romantic and awesome if it's a show that's a couple of hours away from where you live, making it a road trip over the weekend or an overnight trip. There is nothing more romantic than going on a road trip with your man, to go see one of his favorite artists, and to end up in an unknown new place to explore. It's like something out of a movie.
#5 Karaoke. This is by far my favorite date night idea, especially if you're recently dating a music lover. What better way to shake off new relationship jitters and nerves than by standing up in front of people, singing your little heart out to Bon Jovi's “Living on a Prayer?”
There is no way you two won't have a great time, and no one ever sings karaoke without putting a little heart and soul into it. When people sing karaoke, all of their fear automatically disappears for those 2-3 minutes, and it's pretty cute when your man might mess up the words and tries to shake it off like he meant to do so.
It's also pretty sexy knowing that your man isn't afraid to stand up in front of a group of people, and sing his heart out with you by his side. If you're feeling really energetic, invite another couple you're friends with and make it a date night or a battle of the best singing couple's night.
#6 Attend the symphony. Depending on your man's taste in music, he must realize that before the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay, and long before Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, and long long before Otis Redding, the Mozart's and Beethoven's of the world dominated the music industry. So if your man is really a music lover, than he'll definitely appreciate and love going to a symphony with you.
Listening to and watching musicians perform, without using auto tune and fancy dance moves, is magical and very, very romantic. It's also a great excuse for you two to dress up a little more than you normally do, and what girl doesn't love wearing a pretty dress and gorgeous shoes? Not only that, but your man will love seeing you in them as you both tune in to some classical tunes.
#7 Radio request. What is cuter than calling up your favorite local radio station and requesting a song for your man? If he's working late, or studying, or even if he's just hanging out at home, and you decide you want to surprise him in a way he's probably never been surprised before, than this is your time to shine.
When he tunes in, not only will he hear your request, but also he'll be so curious to know which song you picked. If you want to be funny, request a song he sort of likes but makes fun of, or play a song you 99.9% don't think he's ever heard but can still relate to.
There's always something magical about putting a soundtrack to your relationship. Dating a music lover not only makes this possible, but it makes your entire relationship feel like something out of a romantic movie!
