The Cast Of 'Not Another Teen Movie' What They Look Like From The Movie And Now
Who doesn't love a good teen movie?! It's absolutely impossible not to enjoy teen classics like Clueless, Mean Girls, She's All That, and the list goes on (and on). Even though we're not teens anymore, that doesn't mean that we can't enjoy watching high schoolers come of age and struggle with everything from friendship problems to first love to all kinds of drama and conflict.
In 2001, a film came out that spoofed and satirized all of our faves. Yup, we're talking about Not Another Teen Movie, a hilarious take on movies such as She's All That and 10 Things I Hate About You, Pretty In Pink, Can't Hardly Wait, and Varsity Blues. The major storyline is all She's All That: a popular boy wants to win a bet and make over a so-called unattractive, unpopular girl (who is, of course, totally fine and smarter than everyone else). Not Another Teen Movie is tons of fun and we love everything about it, especially the fact that the high school that the students attend is called John Hughes High School.
Wondering what the cast looked like back then and what they look like today? We've got you covered! Check out the cast of Not Another Teen Movie: what they looked like in the movie and what they look like now!
15 Chris Evans: Jake Wyler/The Popular Jock
Yes, Chris Evans, aka the huge movie star, was in this movie. These days, we know him as a big-time action star who has played Caption America in several Marvel movies. And, okay, we also know him because, let's face it, he's totally hot. We can't talk about Chris Evans and not mention his dashing good looks.
When he was in Not Another Teen Movie, he played the main male character, Jake Wyler, who was based on Freddie Prince Jr's character Zach Siler from She's All That. You can definitely see a difference between how Chris looked back then and what he looks like now, right? He was adorable and fresh-faced back in 2001 and, today, he's even better looking (if that's even possible). Plus he's got a really attractive beard. Swoon.
14 Chyler Leigh: Janey Briggs/The Pretty Ugly Girl
Yes, that is a familiar face. None other than Lexie Grey from Grey's Anatomy played the main female character, Janey Briggs, in Not Another Teen Movie.
As we can probably tell, Janey is based on Rachel Leigh Cook's character Lainey Boggs in She's All That. Chyler looked amazing when she starred in the movie, especially in this scene where she's got a short red dress on, and of course, she looks just as good today. Since 2015, she's been starring on the show Supergirl and definitely looks like a cool girl. She's the opposite of her character, basically. Her Not Another Teen Movie role brought her a lot of fame, and coupled with her turn on Grey's, she's definitely had a lot of success as an actress.
13 Lacey Chabert: Amanda Becker/The Perfect Girl
In the picture on the left, a movie still, Lacey Chabert looked like the spitting image of Jennifer Love Hewitt's character Amanda Beckett in Can't Hardly Wait… which was the entire point, of course. Everything about her, from the baby blue tank top to her long brown hair, just screams JLH.
These days, Lacey Chabert pretty much looks exactly the same, and she's always been super beautiful. She does look more grown-up, of course, which is what tends to happen. She has had a really successful acting career, from starring on Party of Five as younger sibling Claudia to her star turn in Mean Girls which made her a household name. She has also been starring in a lot of Hallmark movies (in fact, she's done 12).
12 Mia Kirshner: Catherine Wyler/The Cruelest Girl
It just wouldn't be a teen movie without a mean girl, and that's where Mia Kirshner's character, Catherine Wyler, came in. She was based on two characters: Makenzie Siler, Anna Paquin's She's All That character (who was Zach's sister), and Sarah Michelle Gellar's Cruel Intentions character Kathryn Merteuil.
In the picture on the left, Mia Kirshner looks like the picture of 90's teen movie perfection, and in the picture on the right, she looks incredibly gorgeous. We can tell that this is the same girl, with her pretty long brown hair, and today she looks chic, elegant and sophisticated. The Canadian actress has been very successful, starring on 24 and The L Word. She was also a guest star on Lost Girl and has been in several movies.
11 Eric Christian Olsen: Austin/The Cocky Blonde Guy
Every teen movie also needs a "cocky blonde guy" and that role was given to Eric Christian Olsen, who played Austin. He was based on Paul Walker's She's All That character, Dean Sampson Jr. Don't we just love the turtleneck?!
From the picture on the left (which is a movie still) to the picture on the right, we can tell that the actor has grown up a lot. When he starred in the movie back in 2001, he was adorable and baby-faced, and these days, he's looking much older with his scruffy beard and longer, wavy hair. Okay, okay, we'll say it: he's a total hunk. He has been playing Detective Marty Deeks on NCIS: Los Angeles and he also was in a bunch of movies including Sunshine Cleaning and The Back-Up Plan.
10 JoAnna Garcia: Sandy Sue/The New Girl In School
Joanna Garcia is well-known for her role as Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery on Reba, and she's also been on a lot of TV shows, ranging from The Astronaut Wives Club to Privileged to Jason (Probably) Saves The World. In 2001, she was the new girl at school in Not Another Teen Movie, who was based on none other than Sandy in Grease.
Joanna looks super different today, mostly because of her gorgeous long flowing dark red hair. Seriously, can our hair look like this? Please? Pretty please? We would definitely be pretty thrilled with that, even if we do like our own hair. She's mainly a TV star but has been in a few movies, including American Pie 2. She's also married to baseball player Nick Swisher and they have two daughters named Emerson Jay and Sailor Stevie.
9 Jaime Pressly: Priscilla/The Nasty Cheerleader
Everyone hates the cheerleaders in these types of movies, and it's safe to say that we didn't exactly love Jaime Pressly's mean girl cheerleader Priscilla. There are a whole bunch of characters that she was based on: Mena Suvari's American Beauty character Angela Hayes, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe's character Taylor Vaughan from She's All That, and the two cheerleading characters Torrance and Big Red in Bring It On. Phew, that was a lot.
In real life, Jaime Pressly couldn't be further from her Not Another Teen Movie character. She's sweet and friendly and gave birth to twin boys in October 2017. She is in a relationship with Hamzi Hijazi and they named their sons Lenon and Leo. She also has a son named Dezi James from a previous relationship.
8 Ron Lester: Reggie Ray
Ron Lester probably looks familiar, at least from the photo on the left, because he starred in TV shows like Popular and he was in the teen movie Varsity Blues. He was also in a few episodes of Freaks and Geeks and two episodes of Sabrina The Teenage Witch. In this particular teen comedy, he played Reggie Ray, "The Stupid Fat Guy" because, as this movie made clear, there is usually a character like that in every movie of this kind.
Sadly, Ron Lester passed away when he was 45 in June 2016 from kidney and liver failure. He had lost an incredible amount of weight in 2001: he lost 348 pounds after gastric bypass surgery. He also had 18 different kinds of plastic surgery after that.
7 Randy Quaid: Mr. Briggs
It's safe to say that Randy Quaid doesn't look like the same guy from the left picture to the right. There's really no other way to put it, right? When the actor was in Not Another Teen Movie, he played Mr. Briggs, Chyler Leigh's character's father, and he had short hair. These days, he has really long hair and a beard, along with those thick black glasses.
Randy Quaid is, of course, famous actor Dennis Quaid's brother. He has been in a lot of movies, both as funny and serious characters. In the past decade or so, he has had a lot of different legal issues and has been in the news for subjects other than his acting. He reportedly wanted to live in Canada for a while but currently lives in Vermont with his wife.
6 Riley Smith: Les/The Beautiful Weirdo
Riley Smith's character Les is based on Wes Bentley's character Ricky Fitts from American Beauty. He's "The Beautiful Weirdo" (because beautiful weirdos carry old-school cameras around, right?). The fact that he's wearing a hat probably also makes him a bit strange, at least according to the weird rules of high school.
The actor has been in a ton of television shows, from the 90210 reboot to Joan of Arcadia to True Blood. Fans of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen might know him best as a cute guy from the film New York Minute. He's currently on the new Lucy Hale-starring TV show Life Sentence. He pretty much looks the same as he did back in 2001, just with a bit of a more chiseled face, but of course he's always been very good-looking.
5 Eric Jungmann: Ricky Lipman/The Obsessed Best Friend
Ricky Lipman is based on none other than Ducky in Pretty in Pink, aka everyone's favorite male best friend. Jon Cryer did such an amazing job with that role and Eric Jungmann did a great job with this teen comedy version of it.
It's crazy how similar these two photos are, right? Eric Jungmann honestly does look exactly the same today as he did back in 2001 when he starred in this movie. Okay, he looks a bit older, and he's got a bit of a beard now, but his serious expression is the same. The actor has a lot of television and film credits to his name, including the movie Varsity Blues. He was on Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, 8 Simple Rules, Grounded For Life, Veronica Mars, Bones, and Castle, among many others.
4 Samm Levine: Bruce/The Wannabe
Does Samm Levine look familiar? If we were a fan of the awesome TV show Freaks and Geeks, then he definitely should because he starred as Neal Schweiber. In the picture on the left, aka a movie still, he looked totally and completely adorable. Today, he still looks really adorable, although it's undeniable that he has gotten really good-looking as he's gotten older. As in really, really good-looking.
In Not Another Teen Movie, he played a role based on Seth Green's Can't Hardly Wait character Kenny Fisher and The Karate Kid character Daniel LaRusso played by Ralph Macchio. Most recently, he starred in the 2017 Netflix show Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later and is the main character in the 2018 TV show I'm Poppy.
3 Sam Huntington: Ox/The Sensitive Guy
Sam Huntington looks much different today than he did when he starred in this teen comedy as Ox, "The Sensitive Guy." His character does look super sensitive, sitting there with his friends and drinking a soda. His character was based on Chris Klein's character Oz in American Pie, hence the name.
The actor has had a lot of success since his Not Another Teen Movie days. He had a role on Rosewood, he was in Psych: The Movie, and he was a werewolf in the science-fiction series Being Human. He has also been in the movies Fanboys and Superman Returns and he was in two episodes of everyone's favorite teen detective TV series, Veronica Mars. He is married to a producer and actress named Rachel Klein.
2 Cody McMains: Mitch Briggs/The Desperate Virgin
Cody McMains's character, Mitch Briggs, is seen here on the left hanging out with his two best friends, which is another staple of a teen movie: a group of nerdy guy friends hanging out and trying to figure out the universe… aka trying to figure out how to talk to girls. You know, the important things in life.
Mitch Briggs was based on a few different characters: Judd Nelson's character John Bender from The Breakfast Club, Kieran Culkin's character Simon Boggs from She's All That, and the American Pie character Jim Levenstein who was played by Jason Biggs. We can totally see how this is the same actor in both of these photos since he's got the same face -- he just looks more grown-up now. Most recently, he was in a few episodes of 90210 and one episode of No Ordinary Family.
1 Cerina Vincent: Areola/The Foreign Exchange Student
Cerina Vincent definitely looks like the same person today as she did back when she starred in this teen comedy, although she's looking much more glamorous these days… which is saying something since she was pretty glam in the film.
She played Areola, "The Foreign Exchange Student" because, naturally, teen movies always have a character from another place. Her character was based on Shannon Elizabeth's American Pie character Nadia. Since her days as Areola, she has been in movies like Cabin Fever, has appeared on a long list of television shows, and is a writer as well as an actress. She and Jodi Lipper write a column in The Huffington Post and they have also written three books, the first of which is called Live Like a Hot Chick.
