15 Pics Of Celebrity Moms We Had No Idea Were Practically Children Themselves
There's no perfect age at which to have a baby. Some people are busting to become parents as soon as they hit 20, while others are still daunted by the mere thought of it when they're pushing 30. Others end up with their first children while they're incredibly young at just 16 or 17.
Celebrities, in particular, tend to wait until their 30s or later to have children, seeing as they work hard for their huge careers and don't want to split their focus until they've achieved their goals. That said, some stars don't wait to become parents. The following 15 celebs weren't exactly kids themselves when they first got pregnant, but they were still pretty young by modern standards.
Each of the following women has a different story, filled with either joy and blessings, tragedy or total surprises. At the time they fell pregnant, some as young as 16, they were in the middle of stellar careers, suffering marriage breakdowns and juggling a million other things while having their first baby. Read on to find out how old (or should we say, young) these stars were when they gave birth, and how they handled the pressure.
15 Hilary Duff Was Only 24 When She Welcomed Son Luca, And Has Been Killing It As A Single Mom Ever Since
Since she doesn't look a whole lot different from her Lizzie McGuire days (although she's lost the crimped hair and butterfly clips), Hilary Duff always strikes us as somebody who's full of youth, no matter how old she gets. When she became a mama at the age of 24, we could hardly believe it. It is relatively young, but when you look at all the other stars who have had kids at an even younger age, we guess there's nothing really shocking about it… it's just because she's still Lizzie to us!
Hilary has opened up about wanting to give Luca Cruz Comrie, born in 2012, a sibling or two. “I want to have more kids and I'm looking forward to doing that, but I'm not in any rush.” The actress is a great mom to Luca, so we can't wait to see her do it all again in the future.

But having babies just seemed like the next logical step for Reese Witherspoon, who was married to Ryan Phillippe at that age and welcomed her daughter soon after. Because Reese had Ava Elizabeth Phillippe when she was so young, the two look more like a couple of friends than mother and daughter today. Actually, the resemblance is so striking that perhaps we should change “friends” to “twins”.
In an interview with Elle, Reese spoke out about how tough it was to be a mom at that age. “It was so hard… living [away from my family]. I really didn't have any friends. And I had a baby,” she said. “No one else who was 22 had a baby.”

3 Solange Knowles Had Her Son When She Was Just 18 After A Dream Wedding At 17
By some standards, Solange Knowles really was just a kid when she became a mom for the first time. She was only 18 when she welcomed her son Daniel Julez J. Smith Jr in 2004, and still too young to rent a hotel room in Vegas or sip a cocktail at a bar.
Motherhood at that age comes with enormous responsibilities and sacrifices since you're not living the lifestyle enjoyed by the majority of people your age. Solange is lucky that she had a super supportive famous family to lend her a hand, and looking back, wouldn't trade being a young mom for the world. “A lot of people have doubts,” she said, “but when you have a child I think it takes a really non-emotional person not to have a blast, no matter what age”
