10 Unique Celebrity Weddings & 11 We Wish We Had Been Invited To
Celebrity weddings are some of the most fun events in Hollywood. There are gorgeous photos of our favorite celebrities tying the knot. Part of the lure for us is the exclusive guest list and the secret honeymoon location. We love seeing our favorites from the screen find love. And it's even more fun to see how celebs spend all that money they have on their big day.
Some celebs do a great job. They prove that they really do have great taste. They plan classic and timeless weddings that are pure luxury. These are the kind of events that we would be dying to get invited to. Surely someone on their guest list needs a plus one, right? These are the weddings that are held in castles, where the guests are served all kinds of fancy food, and the pictures sell for millions.
But then there are the celebs who don't do so hot. Instead of putting their money to good use, they totally miss the mark. Either they pour their money into the tackiest and ridiculous options or they decide not to spend any money on their day at all. It's so sad when rich and beautiful people don't make the most of it. Especially when these are the photos they'll be looking back on for years to come. Why would you want to frame something awful and put it up on the walls?
Horribly Tacky
21 Victoria & David Beckham's Horrendous Matching Purple Suits
David and Victoria Beckham are coming up on 19 years of wedded bliss. But their 1999 wedding was far from blissful. Look at this mess! The wedding cost $800,000, which is a lot for 1999, but it's clear they made all of the tackiest choices. For starters, Posh and Becks sat on gold thrones during their ceremony. Their wedding cake was topped with a naked sculpture of them. And then for the reception, they decided to change into these bright and blinding purple numbers. They even put their poor son Brooklyn in the same purple! But since then, David has come to his senses. He told Vanity Fair in 2017, "Yeah, that was bold. Victoria's was pretty nice. Mine? What was I thinking? I looked like the guys out of 'Dumb and Dumber' when they went to that party and wore those ridiculous outfits. I even had a top hat in purple, as well. Unbelievable!"
20 Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert's Country Hick Mess - The Groom Wore Jeans!
Okay, we get it: You're country! You have a pickup truck. You like to hunt. You own a cowboy hat. But did you need to go so country for your wedding? I can understand people wearing cowboy boots under their wedding outfits. But with jeans? C'mon now! This is your wedding. You are people with money. Put on a nice tux. Do not throw on your blue denim with a shiny blazer. I know it was 2011 but this isn't a good look for anyone, ever! And as much as I love Miranda, I can't say she made the best choice for her dress either. Would you believe those are custom crystal cowboy boots and a $1.2 million diamond necklace around her neck? Upsetting, really. Let's hope Miranda and Blake do better at their next weddings.
19 Melanie Brown "Scary Spice" Goes Full Vegas Show Girl In Her Wedding To Jimmy Gulzar
For this tacky celebrity wedding, we had to go way back to 1998. In 1998, Melanie Brown (aka Scary Spice) married dancer Jimmy Gulzar. They married at St John the Baptist Church in the village of Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Hundreds of fans lined the streets to try and catch a glimpse of Mel B or any of the other Spice Girls. Mel B actually snuck into the church hours earlier and avoided the crowds. However, Victoria (Posh Spice) who arrived with David Beckham, wasn't as lucky and their car was hounded. After the ceremony, the couple and their guests returned to Mel B's backyard for a champagne reception. And for some reason, they felt the need to wear these outfits. It's your special day, not a Vegas show. There's no need for giant headpieces, feathers or cowboys hats.
18 Celine Dion & René Angélil With The Diva Length Train And Crazy Veil
Celine Dion went full diva mode for her 1994 wedding to René Angélil. The wedding was held in Celine's native country, in the Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, Canada. Fans lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the bride who spared no expense for the big day. 500 guests were invited to their wedding. One of the biggest statements of the day was Celine's dress. Look at that thing! You can see it took a team of people to carry the train. And her headpiece was a marvel. The exact cost of the dress is unknown but just the lace used to make part of it cost $25,000. The whole thing was wild, and unfortunately, ended up looking way too over the top. But this was the 90s! Celine has definitely refined her classy style in more recent years. Sadly, Celine and her family returned to the Notre Dame Basilica in 2016 for René's funeral after his battle with cancer.
17 Pamela Anderson & Kid Rock - Wed In Bikinis And Bad Hats
If there's an award out there for the trashiest wedding, it might go to Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson. This duo did almost everything in their power to have the least classy wedding ever. For starters, the bride wore a white bikini and sailor hat while the groom wore jeans and a fedora. An adult beverage was never too far from either of their hands. The two married on a yacht in St. Tropez but made it feel way less posh and expensive than that. Like this wedding, the marriage did not go well. Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson were married for a grand total of 122 days from July to November 2016. They literally raced each other to the court to file their divorce papers. Kid Rock arrived 53 minutes before Pamela and was able to file first.
16 Emma Thompson & Kenneth Branagh Channeling Little Bo Peep
For a while there, we all thought Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore were going to beat the odds and live happily ever after. But we all know that didn't happen (and that Ashton is with Mila Kunis now, which is amazing). Perhaps a 25-year-old shouldn't be marrying a 41-year-old and become stepfather to her three children. But more important, that same 20-something should not be wearing a fedora to his own wedding. This hat is just such a bad choice. And Demi isn't doing much better. Her crochet poncho and scarf were also terrible decisions. And that cake? Yikes! Everything about this 2005 wedding just screams tacky and makes our eyes hurt. Here's to hoping that Ashton's wedding to Mila Kunis was much more stylish and classy - though they haven't released photos so maybe we'll never know!
14 Avril Lavigne & Chad Kroeger's Goth-Tastic Celebration
When Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger got together, everyone thought it was just the music industry's big joke. Seriously? The Sk8ter Boi girl and Nickelback? Two of Canada's most mocked singers were tying the knot and going out on tour together - it couldn't get more ill-fated than that. And then we saw their wedding photos. And it was confirmed that yes, this whole thing was a terrible idea. We get that Avril had a grunge and goth phase. But an all-black wedding? C'mon! They must have known this was not a good look. It's one thing to have a touch of black here and there. And if you really want, go for a black dress, I guess. But do you also have to add black roses? Too much!
13 Britney Spears & Kevin Federline's Tacky Vegas-Style Wedding
Britney Spears hasn't had the best luck when it comes to weddings and marriages. We all remember that time she "accidentally" got married to her childhood friend in Vegas and then got it annulled the next day. Well, turns out Britney wasn't over Vegas weddings quite yet. When she and her baby daddy, Kevin Federline, decided to tie the knot, Brit knew just the spot. They returned so she could have a second go at a wedding with all of the flare of the Vegas strip. And apparently, that flare involved a cheesy and over the top floral arch with flimsy curtains. And Britney decided instead of wearing a nice dress she would opt for tiny shorts and a skin tight top. You know it's going to be a tacky time when the garter is visible all night long.
12 Christina Aguilera & Jordan Bratman Prove Money Can't Buy Good Taste
If anyone is going to have a big diva wedding and lay on multiple layers of gauche, it's going to be Christina Aguilera. At first glance, her wedding doesn't seem all that tacky, especially compared to some on this list. Her dress isn't everyone's taste but it suits Christina just fine. But think about how much better this could have been. Christina has so much money! Instead of those curtains that look like they could be used at a Walmart Photo Center, she could have splurged for something a little bit more luxurious. This whole thing just kind of seems like she threw it together in a week and got married in the basement of a community center. You can do better than that, Christina! We know you can.

11 Kim And Kanye's Extravagant Italian Wedding With That Crazy Flower Wall
We thought Kim's wedding to Kris Humphries was extravagant. But then we saw her 2014 wedding to Kanye West and realized everything this chick does is luxe and fabulous. Kim and Kanye married at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy in May 2014. Kim wore a Givenchy Haute Couture gown. Before the wedding, Kim and Kanye hosted their guests at a private home in Paris and a pre-wedding dinner in Versailles. But it's that flower wall that really wowed everyone. No silly archways or fake flowers for Kim and Kanye! Also, considering how much Kim K loves a selfie, the couple decided to ban all phones and cameras from their event. Another luxe detail? Instead of making place cards, the couple carved each guest's name into marble stone.
10 Sofia Vergara & Joe Manganiello Proving There's No Age Limit For Smokin' Newlyweds
When Sofia and Joe got together, we couldn't stop smiling. These two are just so beautiful and they look even more incredible together. Plus, they seem to make each other so happy! And then they went and had the most beautiful and romantic wedding. The couple married in Florida in late 2015. Sofia wore a custom-made Zuhair Murad gown and looked so stunning. The two said I do under a canopy of gorgeous white flowers. Seriously, there could not have been more flowers in this ceremony space. Another sweet detail: Sofia was walked down the aisle by her adult son and at the dinner the night before, Joe serenaded his soon to be wife. The whole wedding celebration was just romance and magic and these newlyweds loved every second of it.
9 Kate Moss & Jamie Hince's Incredibly Boho Chic Wedding With All The Flower Girls
Even though Kate Moss and Jamie Hince are no longer together, we can still look back and admire their gorgeous wedding, right? Because this one was right out of a bridal magazine, and not just because the bride is one of the world's biggest supermodels. Kate wore a John Galliano wedding dress and had her daughter, and every other little girl she knew, serve as bridesmaids. Kate looked stunning, managing to blend her love for boho-chic, vintage, and some modern flair. She incorporated both lace and sparkles. And by opting for a care-free hairstyle, instead of a fancy updo, she still looked effortlessly cool. Sadly, these two called it quits a few years after their beautiful wedding.
8 Prince William & Kate Middleton's Royal Affair The Entire World Watched
Everyone in the world tuned in to watch Prince William marry Kate Middleton on April 29, 2011. And it was well worth the wait. The royal couple looked beautiful! They shut down the entire city of London for their nuptials. They married at Westminster Abbey with Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton serving as their Best Man and Maid of Honor. Kate wore a stunning yet conservative gown designed just for her by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. The dress was kept in complete secrecy and rumored to have cost almost half a million dollars. Everyone cheered as Kate and Will left the church and shared two sweet kisses on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. And now, seven years later, the sweet couple is set to welcome their third child.
7 Miranda Kerr & Evan Spiegel's Romantic And Elegant Backyard Wedding
For her second wedding (her first was to Orlando Bloom), Miranda Kerr chose to channel her inner Grace Kelly and went for a very classy and posh look. She wore a Dior Haute Couture gown designed just for her. And while the gown was certainly regal and fit for a queen, Miranda and Evan decided to keep their nuptials much more intimate and casual. They married in their own backyard with 45 close friends. Miranda was even busy in the kitchen the morning of her wedding making chicken. Yes, the bride helped to prepare the dinner at her own wedding! There were no bridesmaids or groomsmen, but Miranda's son Flynn served as ringbearer. He also joined his mom and new stepdad for their first dance. After the intimate wedding, Miranda and Evan took off to Fiji for their honeymoon.
6 Ellen DeGeneres & Portia De Rossi's Simple And Sweet Love Fest
How cool would it have been to be a guest at Ellen and Portia's wedding? This one was magical for sure. The sweet couple wed in 2008, meaning they celebrate their 10 year anniversary this year. They got married at their Los Angeles home and both wore custom Zac Posen outfits. For their ceremony, they sat on pillows while a friend officiated for them. They exchanged rings and then treated their guests to an all-vegan feast complete with a vegan red velvet wedding cake. After, the couple danced to the soothing sounds of Joshua Radin. Since then, Ellen has had Joshua perform a number of times on her show and it must always be such a sweet memory. Rumor has it these two are planning a vow renewal for this year. Can we get invited to that one?
5 Kate Upton & Justin Verlander's Gorgeous Party In Tuscany With Water Balloons And Fireworks
Kate Upton and MLB player Justin Verlander had the most gorgeous wedding in Tuscany just last year. Seriously - how pretty does this look? But it almost didn't happen! The couple wed on Nov 4 and had planned to be in Italy the week before hanging out with their guests. But on Nov 2, Kate and Justin were in Los Angeles as his team beat the LA Dodgers in Game 7 of the World Series. Kate joked that they got taken around a pre-wedding event on Facetime as they were in LA and their guests were already in Italy. Luckily, they both made it to Tuscany in time for their big day. They hosted the Uplander Olympics where guests took part in outdoor games and an all-red rehearsal dinner where everyone had to wear red.
4 Losing Hollywood's Biggest Bachelor With Amal & George Clooney's Stunning Wedding
In 2014, Hollywood's most popular bachelor hung up his hat and officially entered the world of marriage. George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin tied the knot at the Aman Canal Grande luxury resort in Venice, Italy. George has a home in Lake Cabo, Italy so the country is a favorite for him and Amal. Amal wore a beautiful Oscar de la Renta dress for her ceremony and changed into another Oscar de la Renta gown for the reception. Famous guests included Matt Damon, Cindy Crawford, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski and Ellen Barkin. The couple had kept pretty quiet about their nuptials and only released a few photos many months after the big day. Just last summer, Amal, and George welcomed twins, Ella and Alexander, making this ex-bachelor both a husband and a dad.
3 Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian's Star-Studded Nuptials
Serena Williams had the most magical 2017. She got pregnant. She won the Australian Open while pregnant. She had her baby. And she married the love of her life. Like Kate Middleton, Serena wore a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress (though a very different style than Kate's) that she flew to London and fell in love with. Alexis and Serena got married at the Big Easy in New Orleans with the most incredible guest list. Guests included Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria and Anna Wintour. The couple exchanged the sweetest vows and had their new daughter get carried down the aisle. Guests sat on velvet couches, instead of hard chairs, and then moved on to the lavish ceremony. Everything was Beauty and the Beast themed! The reception included live music by Broadway greats and multiple wardrobe changes by Serena.
2 Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka's Celebration Of Their Pure Sweet Love
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have got to be one of our favorite Hollywood couples. These two just seem so cool and so totally in love with one another. Plus, they seem like amazing dads and their Halloween costumes are always phenomenal. The duo tied the knot n 2014 after 10 years together and have two kids together. Both grooms wore Tom Ford suits to their Italian wedding. The wedding was officiated by Pam Fryman, the longtime director of NPH's How I Met Your Mother. The couple's twins, Harper and Gideon, who were three at the time, were also very involved in the wedding. And if that wasn't enough, guess who performed at their reception? Sir Elton John! Talk about an amazing wedding to be at.
1 Ciara & Russel Wilson's Fairytale Wedding In A Castle In England
Musical artist Ciara and NFL player Russell Wilson decided to go full fairytale for their wedding in 2016. Yes, they got married in a castle - Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England. After their castle ceremony, Ciara and Russell partied at their reception with the band Earth, Wind and Fire and DJ Nabs. Everything about their day was luxe and fabulous. Where was our invite?
