11 Reasons You Should Definitely Date a Nerdy Guy
If you're one of those girls out there who just can't get why nerdy men are now becoming the new hotties, allow us to show you the light!
Nerdy men are hot right now. They're no longer the guys who are in the shadows, as they are now the new IT guys. *Get it? IT guys?*
These guys not only prefer brains over vanity, but they are also the ones with the big bucks, as they tend to be in high-paying industries. If we don't count the athletes and the celebrities, normal geeky dudes who are living in the same city block as we do actually take home more money than most non-professional-athlete jocks.
Why you should date the nerdy guy
So when considering whether to ignore that geeky neighbor of yours who seemingly does not have an active social life, think about these reasons first:
#1 They are great in conversations. If you're the type of girl who values great conversation over hot sex, then geeky dudes might be a good bet for you. I'm not saying the sex would be boring, that all depends on the nerd. If you put a higher value on long term over short term, I think being able to have meaningful conversations should trump steamy physical work outs any day.
You can present an argument to nerds, and I assure you they will have their own weirdly unique take on any situation, be it hypothetical or actual. Unlike when you ask a real life generic dude about what he thinks is the meaning of life where you'd probably get unimaginative answers, if you want interesting things to talk about, date a geek.
#2 Most of them have great sense of humor. A lot of these guys are shy, but once they feel comfortable around you, they will surprise you with dry wit, intelligent humor, and amusing candor. They can make you laugh out loud, literally. Most geeks take pride in having a sense of humor, and they can get competitive about it. They take the effort to make a girl laugh, because they know that's a valuable edge to have.
#3 They have more potential to give you a stable life. Even the ones who have failed in college have risen as one of the new geek gods of the decade. You think girls had any inkling that Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg was going to be a freaking billionaire in only a few years?
At first glance, you may think that that a video-game-playing, fantasy/sci-fi-reading, HTML-loving nerd won't have a lot going on for him, but you could be oh, so wrong. Geeks may not live their lives the way most people do, but they always surprise people when they actually prove they are extremely capable - which they silently are.
#4 They take relationships more seriously. Not all men are alike, we know. Yet it usually takes a certain type of man to take relationships more seriously, and nerds are usually the types of dudes who will. They appreciate their women more, because deep inside, they are still amazed that a woman like you chose them. They are humble like that.
In their earlier years, most geeks don't have any interest in dating and trying to look hot for the ladies. They're usually too busy with their games and comic books for that. So when a woman takes a genuine interest in them, they're often very appreciative of the attention and affection, to the extent that they'd invest a lot of their time and effort just to make her happy.
#5 Most are shy at first, but give them time and they will surprise you. Most of them will be awkward in social situations, and most will probably avoid anything that could be classified as a social gathering. They are either shy or too self-conscious to be around what they deem to be as the typical crowd.
But once you give these dudes a shot, and once you get past that shyness and social anxiety, they are the most lovable guys you would know. Instead of flirting the way a typical dude would, their years of absorbing all sorts of geeky media allows them to come up with a unique yet endearing way to catch your attention. Not a lot of girls would appreciate it, but those who do tend to end up happy.
#6 They value loyalty more than most. We all value loyalty to a certain point, yet these men are more adamant and serious about it. It may be because they have always been loyal to their small amount of friends. It may even be because they have learned from various bullies at school that the more bullied you are, the closer you become with your fellow bully victims.
They have come to trust one another, and therefore have inculcated it into their own values, sometimes subconsciously, that loyalty is what makes a good person better.
#7 They are intelligent, and they use that to adapt. Not all of them are book smart. A lot of these nerds are actually a bit street wise too. Not in an “I live in the ghetto” street-wise, but more like “I live on my own and have learned to adapt” kind of street-wise. Remember Jesse Eisenberg in Zombieland? He was one geeky nerd who not only survived the apocalypse, but wrote his own quirky rules on surviving the zombie outbreak - albeit fictional.
#8 They will make sure you are well cared for. I'm not saying jocks won't take care of you. Sure they will, they are manlier in the physical sense and that is awesome too. But nerdy men are more thoughtful, sweeter, and more sincere. You probably won't even need to tell them that you need to be cared for, because they pay more attention, and they see what you need even before you do.
#9 Not a lot of men can do what they do. There's a reason why the new age of modern technology has brought the geeks out of the dark, so to speak. It is now a pride to be called a nerd, because not many can be called so.
Not many men will be able to fix your computer in under five minutes. Not many men can actually make your iPhones run as it does. Not many men can create a game from their imagination. And not many men can argue the finer points of how World of Warcraft can teach you valuable life lessons. Geeks now run the modern world!
#10 With a little help, they can be made-over. What girl would pass up a chance to make a guy over? Most of these geeks have not made an effort in dressing themselves to pass as “hot,” but with a little bit of grooming and a few wardrobe updates, you can instantly transform a geek into your own personal hottie.
#11 They're pretty simple, down to earth dudes. They are not only humble about their outward appearance, but in general as well. They would rather think little of themselves than think that they are more than what they really are, which we must admit, most other “confident” men are. Try telling a nerd they look cute and they probably won't believe you and then blush. Try telling a douchebag they're cute, and you would probably get a shrug, a nod, or an “I know right.”
Aside from that, nerds know that their investment is their minds. So they don't dig the more ostentatious displays other guys go for, like grand gestures and expensive gifts. Instead, they'll intrigue you with their wit and sincerity, and they'll make you fall from them with their endearingly unique ways.
Most girls want a guy who is humble, interesting, loving, capable, and responsible. Guess what, girls? These “geeky nerds” are the dudes who are thoughtful, gentlemanly, sweet, respectful, and in it for the long haul. All in all, nerds, geeks and the like are not only good for the friend zone, they are most definitely for keeps. You just need to give them a shot!
