Ranking The Best Sabrina The Teenage Witch Moments We'll Never Forget
With Halloween around the corner, we wanted to make all you '90s kids feel a little nostalgic and make you relive the best moments of the hilarious sitcom that had witches, and a talking cat, Sabrina: the Teenage Witch. Anyone who was a kid in the '90s was probably fooled and thought they could one day lead a life like Sabrina Spellman. If you are not familiar with that name, we feel bad for you, but hey, it is never too late to binge watch this hilarious '90s sitcom.
If you were an avid fan of the show as a child or teen, then you certainly remember the Spellman family, with their magical abilities and the broom cupboard. Not going to lie, we know we, and most of you probably went into your closet as a child hoping you could also snap you fingers and end up in another realm. Sadly, only Sabrina and her two comical aunts Hilda and Zelda were about to zap themselves instantly. And Salem the talking black cat was just way too witty for any of us to comprehend; seriously, he knew how to surf on a computer. We all thought this show was the coolest thing in the world as kids, and it turns out, this memorable sitcom had way more funny and awesome moments than we remember. Also, who could forget the handsome Harvey? We've picked some of the best moments from the cult classic to give you all the nostalgic feels.
20 Sabrina At Her Fittest
"Did you just speak?" There were so many iconic moments and lines in the show, but the best of all was how Sabrina could suddenly snap her magic fingers and be in a whole other body instantly. We now live in a world that is very conscious about working out, and getting that dream body, let us face it, does not come at the snap of our fingers ― unless you're Sabrina Spellman of course. We want to remind you of the moment Sabrina went to the gym, clicked her fingers and suddenly became the fittest chick in the gym. Watching her walk around with her weight lifting champion body was so hysterical.
19 Salem Loves The Moolah
After watching this show, we are not ashamed to say that we all wanted a black cat just like Salem. Seriously, even though Sabrina was the main character of the show, most of our laughs were because of the witty little genius cat. One of Salem's most iconic moments that gave us abs from laughing was when he was twirling his body around in money. Salem made us learn the true value of money when he was rubbing his body all over the few hundred dollars bills spread across the table, happily exclaiming "I'm rich! Rich I tell you!" ― little did he know.
18 Salem The Catfish
Salem, our favourite talking cat gave a whole new meaning in the '90s to the term catfish ― if the term even existed then, who knows? As we mentioned, the sarcastic cat that was basically a human, knew how to use a computer, and one of his finest moments in the show, was when he was in a chatroom pretending to be a woman.
Seriously, Salem was way ahead of his time already cat-fishing people.
Sabrina asked him if he was in the chatroom again, obviously stating this was not the first time she caught her cat doing so, and he cleverly replied, "I like the attention." What is there not to love about this cat?
17 Sabrina's Breakout
Who knew that one day as women, we would have to deal with those occasional breakouts? We thought when Sabrina got them it was because of her witch ways, but we were totally wrong; thanks for covering it up Spellman. Right before the big dance, Sabrina got a huge, round and very noticeable pimple, a.k.a. witch mole on her forehead, and boy did we ever laugh. This cult classic was covering up the fact that we'd one day get those annoying pimples by calling them a witch mole, but hey, we forgive them. And the blunt and honest Salem, who always made things worst, asked Sabrina who her new friend was when he discovered the mole.
16 The “Normal” Sabrina
All throughout the sitcom, Sabrina was a teenager who desperately wanted to lead a normal life, after discovering on her 16th birthday that she had magical powers. Any fan of the show that aired for 7 seasons will remember fondly the moment that Sabrina was so happy to finally be normal. Well, we don't know if we agreed with her when she did her "I'm finally normal" happy dance because she was nuts still, but this moment was irreplaceable. When she finally felt like an average teenage girl, we couldn't retain our laughter, as you'll remember the iconic words she said: "Woo-hoo! I'm normal. Got to go tell the cat!" Which normal person would go to tell their cat great news.
15 Sabrina As A Man
Ah, if only we had the same powers as Sabrina Spellman, we would probably do 100% of the things she did on the show with an easy snap of our fingers. Sabrina did what all of us women would love to do for a day; transform into a boy ― she had us all bewitched. Had we known that Sabrina revealed the mysteries of men when she transformed herself magically into a boy named Jack, we would have taken notes. The hilarious deep voice and the typical '90s bowl haircut had us dying of laughter while being crouched over. Sabrina posed as a boy to figure out Harvey's true feelings; we would probably do the same, but we'd choose a better haircut.
14 Sabrina's Music Video
Many moments in the Sabrinaverse caught us by surprise, and it seems she was able to do just about anything she wanted to. Remember that time she switched her casual clothing for a skin clad leopard dress and leather accessories? Woah, Sabrina, we didn't know you had so much spunk in you. There is no way you could forget this ridiculously hilarious episode because of the memorable “Shake Your Whammy Fanny, Funky Song, Funky Song” that was on the tip of our tongues for days because of how catchy it was. What was even more hilarious was watching Sabrina dance in the leopard dress looking all foxy while be surrounded by scary clowns for the song's video clip - eek.
13 Hilda's Valentine
So many moments made our tummies rumble with endless laughter, but who knew that some of the antics on the show would later be so relatable in life? Sabrina was lucky and blessed to have two awesome aunts, and a lot of their moments on the show made us laugh, as they were not your typical strict aunts.
Aunt Hilda, however, was quite the unique one, and she taught us a couple life lessons, like self-love, that we giggled about as children.
Remember that time she decided she would be her own date on Valentine's Day? With her magical abilities she zapped her finger and boom, there was a bouquet of roses in her hand from her to her. You go Hilda!
12 That Time She Used Her Magic On Libby
Oh, wouldn't we have all loved to have Sabrina's powers when in high school to make those mean girls be gone! No, Sabrina was not your average teenage girl, but she did attend high school, and though she was certainly the coolest chick around with her witch powers, she had to deal with a mean and popular girl named Libby on a daily basis. Sabrina was never threatened by her arch nemesis though, instead, she had fun with her. One of Sabrina's best witch power moments was when she turned Libby into a goat. Libby caught Sabrina in a bad mood (do witches PMS too?) and that is what happened. We are sure Sabrina was #sorrynotsorry.
11 Libby's Turn, Again
The witches were best at showing what revenge is all about, and without Libby Chessler, we would not have seen the full capacity of Sabrina's magic.
We just loved seeing Sabrina take endless jabs at the Queen Bee, who, do not forget, tried to steal Harvey from Sabrina (Regina George got nothing on Libby Chessler.)
So, because Libby liked to make Sabrina's life miserable, Sabrina had quite a fun ride with her, also turning her into a pineapple. After a usual argument between the two, Sabrina zapped her finger and the most popular girl in school was instantly a pineapple. Sabrina then went home to break the awesome news to her aunts!
10 The Libby Swap
Since we got you hating Libby all over again, we want to remind you of another epic moment in the show, where Sabrina pulled off some freaky Friday magic. Sabrina always got tormented in school by the awful Libby, and she was warned to not use her magic in school, but Sabrina obviously did not care. It was quite entertaining to watch Sabrina, who is the complete opposite of Libby, suddenly act like her enemy. Sunspots cause havoc with witches and that is when Sabrina and Libby swapped personalities. What made it more entertaining was watching Salem take advantage of the swap.
9 Who Loves Pancakes More Than Sabrina?
Until this very day, if you were a fan of the '90s classic, when you eat pancakes, we are certain you remember how much Sabrina loved them. It is not like Sabrina was pregnant or anything, but she on more than one occasion expressed her deep craving for pancakes ― do you blame the witch, sorry girl? If we could magically do like Sabrina, and snap our fingers and miraculously be thin, we would devour tons of pancakes in one sitting, like she did. Remember that episode where she magically made a whole stack of pancakes appear in the air and straight into her mouth? In fact, there was a whole episode dedicated to pancakes entitled “Pancake Madness.”
8 Throwback To Grease
We may have been too young to understand love, because as kids in the '90s, we believed boys had cooties, but we did know that Harvey was cute. What we also knew was that Harvey and Sabrina were soulmates and meant to be together ― spoiler alert: they end up together. Consequently, when Sabrina was chosen to select the theme for the school dance and picked Grease, we all jumped with enthusiasm. Harvey and Sabrina will always remain one of the greatest TV couples, and when Harvey dressed up as Danny and Sabrina as Sandy, we could not get over it. And Sabrina came to her senses and stuck with her Danny.
7 What Happened When RuPaul Came Along
There were a few guest appearances on the show, and when that occurred, it made for hilarious and memorable moments. In one episode, Hilda and Zelda are separated as they are living apart, and RuPaul, who played the role of a Judge Witch, came in to transform Sabrina's hair.
And lo and behold, because it is the Spellman household, RuPaul, the hair specialist, transformed Sabrina's hair into a huge purple beehive.
Hilda and Zelda pretended to split up to prove to Sabrina that they needed to all be together as a unit, and poor Sabrina had to deal with a hairdo that made us all giggle.
6 Sabrina As MoH
In the witch universe of the Spellman's, nothing was ever ordinary ― would you even expect it to be with a talking cat and a broom cupboard that brings you anywhere you want to? Suddenly, we found out Salem had a daughter (you see, nothing was ever ordinary). We were introduced to Annabelle, and Annabelle asked Sabrina to be her Maid of Honor, and what an honour that was for Sabrina ― not.
The show always had to turn the more serious life events into hilarious moments, which is what happened when Sabrina had to get into a boxing ring and fight wrestler Billy Gunn to get into her Maid of Honor role.
We are rolling on the floor just thinking of this unpredictable moment.
5 The Epic Britney Moment
The legendary guest appearance on this show was that of Britney Spears. Remember when Melissa Joan Hart had a role in Britney's "Crazy" music video? If you do, do you remember the time Britney came on the sitcom and you perhaps shrieked and freaked out, because we were all obsessed with Britney back then and so was Sabrina. That was one of those moments when we would have died and done anything to be in Sabrina's shoes, as she magically made Britney appear in her living room with a zap. Sabrina wanted Britney's help to brush up on her dancing skills, so that hysterical moment happened when we all got a glance, with Britney, at Sabrina's not-so-great dance moves. We just want to relive this moment as Sabrina!
4 Hilda And Zelda As Chaperones
Sabrina had the best parenting; truthfully, Hilda and Zelda did everything for their Sabrina. Because the Spellmans could have done anything they wanted with their magical powers, they went back into time in the first season to accompany Sabrina. Now, we do not know if we would be embarrassed or annoyed if we were Sabrina, but nonetheless, it made for an unforgettable episode.
Sabrina hatched a plan to go to Boston with Harvey and Libby to see her favourite band, the Violent Femmes, and it instantly became hilarious when Hilda and Zelda transform themselves into teens.
Turning into teenagers for the night happened to backfire at them, as they got into a little bit of trouble.
3 The Cat Slap
Salem provided comedic gold throughout the series, but there were some moments, like this one, that stood out above the rest. Firstly, Salem was a talking cat (and we know no one has one of those), secondly, he was way too witty, blunt and sarcastic for his own good. That being said, this feline was able to do just about anything out of the ordinary, like slap Sabrina. Remember, Salem was a man that got turned into a cat, so he behaved just like a human. By the look Sabrina had on her face, she was not expecting her cat to slap her with his tail, and neither did we.
2 Sabrina's Baking Attempt
Everyone who dearly misses this show will immediately go to YouTube to watch this typical Sabrina Spellman moment. This post is all about our favourite witch Sabrina, who got us in our feelings because this embarrassing and comical situation has happened to us all. May we remind you that Sabrina was a witch, and with just a zap, she could have made fresh and moist cookies appear.
Instead, as a mortal she attempted to bake cookies on her own and it was a #completefail.
As children we may have laughed when we saw her open the stove and all black smoke came out, but now we feel for what happened to her. Clearly, baking was not her forte.
1 Sabrina's Magical Ending
We all love happy endings and trust us when we say we remember every instance of the Sabrina: the Teenage Witch finale. On the morning of her wedding, we saw a Sabrina that was anxious as she woke up with cold feet literally; they were frozen in blocks of ice. Basically, the entire episode is of Sabrina trying to convince herself that Aaron is the one for her, and that they are soul mates.
Suddenly, that all changed when she was unable to complete her vows and left him at the alter to find Harvey sitting on his bike.
Can we all get a hallelujah and amen for this fantastic and incredible ending?
