23 Twilight Throwback Photos That Make Us All Feel A Little Nostalgic

It's hard to believe that it's been a decade since the first Twilight film came out. Though this sparkly story has attracted a lot of hate, Edward and Bella still have a place in our hearts. From their first real encounter in the science lab to their dreamy wedding day, this vampire couple took us on a journey filled with passion, lots of angst, a little confusion, and total envy. Who doesn't want their own secret mansion in the woods, right?

Twilight is filled with characters that left their mark on us in one way or another, from hotheaded werewolf Jacob to Bella's fierce vampire sisters-in-law, Alice and Rosalie. While it's been quite a while since the first film graced our screens, we still fondly remember everything that happened to this mob of supernatural (and super attractive) beings. Across the five installments of the franchise, we saw endless tension between the vampires and the werewolves, inter-vampire fighting and rivalries, and the potential for widespread destruction, all fueled by one forbidden relationship.

Even though we know how it ends, it's fun to look back on our favorite Twilight moments. Check out these 23 snaps from one of the most famous vampire stories of all time, and get ready for a hit of nostalgia.

23 The Cullens Are Intimidatingly Attractive In The Cafeteria

Say what you want about the Cullens, but this vampire coven is seriously attractive. A classic moment was in the very first film, in one of the earliest scenes on Bella's first day of school. She's sitting at the table with her new friends when all five Cullens stroll in with their ridiculously good looks. This iconic moment is the first time that Bella actually sees Edward, and it kickstarts their entire relationship. Their first meeting takes place in the science lab, but just from staring at him from afar, Bella can tell there's something special about Edward.

    22 Edward Saves Bella's Life

Another iconic moment in the first film. Bella already has some reservations about Edward by this point, especially after their awkward meeting in the science lab where the fan blows her human scent to him and he pretty much has to hold himself back from sucking her blood. In this scene, an out-of-control van spins its way toward Bella, but Edward shows up out of nowhere and pushes it back, saving her life. Thanks to the huge dent his hand leaves in the side of the van, Bella definitely knows that something supernatural is at play from this moment.

21 Bella And Edward Play Spider Monkeys In The Woods

Once Bella does some digging, discovers the truth about Edward and confronts him, he is free to show off his exciting vampire powers. Edward is faster than his brothers and sisters and can climb things and jump like an animal. Although vampires have historically been seen as creepy, the scene where Edward takes Bella on his back and runs with her through the woods made a lot of viewers wish they had their very own vampire boyfriend. We know we did! The best part about it is that although the ride is exhilarating for Bella, Edward always makes sure she's totally safe.

20 The First Time We Meet Unfriendly Vampires

Twilight is one of the few universes where the vampires are the good guys, and once we get to know the Cullens, we fall in love with them as if they were human. But in the first film, things get a little angsty when we meet some unfriendly vampires during Bella's first game of vampire baseball. Laurent, James, and Victoria aren't vegetarians, which means they still feast on the blood of humans. This trio leads to a whole bunch of problems too, with Edward having to kill James and then Victoria hunting Bella. Fun times.

19 Edward Comes To Bella's Rescue In The Ballet Studio

Edward doesn't like killing other vampires, but he has no choice when James becomes obsessed with the idea of drinking Bella's blood. After he manages to lure her to her old ballet studio, Bella nearly loses her life yet again. But luckily Edward manages to come to her rescue and defeat James (with the help of his family). Not only does Edward fight James off, but he saves Bella by sucking out the venom, without losing control and sucking out her blood too. This scene was the climax of the first film, and one of the more exciting endings.

18 Bella And Edward Go To Prom Together

Prom is a milestone for all teenagers, so why should Bella and Edward miss out just because he's a vampire (even though he's probably been more times than he can count)? Their prom experience is probably a little different from most people's since they're recovering from the incident with James, during which Bella nearly died and Edward nearly lost control of his urges. Plus, Victoria is secretly roaming around the party with her eyes set on Bella. What we love the most about this prom couple is that Bella stayed true to herself and wore flat shoes with her dress.

17 Bella's Birthday Party Meets A Bloody End

In the second film, all that James drama is behind Bella and Edward (or so they think) and they're ready to move on and be a regular, happy couple. But things turn sour at her birthday party (which the Cullens throw for her, against her wishes), an event which ends up igniting the events of the film. When Edward's adoptive brother Jasper gets a whiff of Bella's blood, he loses control of himself and tries to attack her. A lot of drama ensues (followed by a total over-reaction from Edward, in our opinion), and this kicks off Bella and Edward's break up.

16 Edward Tells Bella That He's Leaving Her

Following the bloody birthday party, Edward decides that Bella isn't safe around his vampire family and breaks up with her for her own protection. Although we can understand where he's coming from, this scene is always difficult to watch because you know how much these two really love each other. Plus, you know that they're just going to get back together in the end anyway since this only happens in the second film. Neither Bella nor Edward's behavior following their breakup is healthy in our opinion, and from this moment, it's just a countdown until they work it out again.

15 The Super Awkward Third-Wheel Date

A date with three people is awkward most of the time, but it's especially awkward when two of those people are interested in the other person. This happens when Bella agrees to see a movie with both Jacob and Mike, who both want to be with her. And to make things even more awkward, Bella isn't really into any of them at this point, since she's still pining over Edward. This scene is memorable because when we experience awkward moments in our own lives, we think back to this and feel grateful that at least we're not on a third-wheel date with these guys!

14 We Find Out Jacob's Secret

For most of New Moon, Jacob behaves in a suspicious way while he tries to comfort Bella who's grieving over Edward leaving her. You can kind of guess what secret he's hiding since this is a world where supernatural beings exist and blend in with regular teenagers. But still, it's an exciting moment when he reveals his secret: that he's actually a werewolf. Now, Edward has some competition since Bella's other suitor is also freakishly strong and can protect her against all manner of evil. Plus, Jacob's warmth is probably a welcomed change from Edward's icy temperature.

13 Bella Tries To Save Edward From Revealing Himself To The Humans

New Moon channels some Romeo and Juliet when Edward decides that he doesn't want to live anymore after he believes that Bella has died. To try and end his own life, Edward chooses to reveal himself to the humans in Volterra, Tuscany. Once they see his sparkly skin in the sunlight, his secret will be revealed and then the Volturi will have no choice but to execute him for his criminal actions. This scene is a little tense, but Bella makes it to Italy with Alice's help and saves Edward from making such a fatal mistake.

12 The Constant Angst Between Edward And Jacob

Have there ever been two characters who disliked each other more than Jacob the werewolf and Edward the vampire? Probably, but in the Twilight universe, these two are arch rivals. Their hate for each other goes back generations, to when the Cullens came face to face with the Quileutes. But on top of that, there's the fact that they're both teenage boys in love with the same girl, both trying to win her heart, both believing that the other is dangerous for her. For most of the franchise, these two despise each other and their interactions are amusing, to say the least.

    11 Rosalie Gets Revenge

Rosalie's revenge is hands down one of our favorite scenes in the Twilight franchise. Sure, it's uncomfortable to watch her fiancé betray her, but it's super satisfying to watch him get his straight after. When telling the story of how she became a vampire, Rosalie reveals that in 1933, the man she loved broke her heart in the worst way possible. Though they were due to be married, he drank too much with his friends one night and the group attacked her. She was left clinging onto life when Carlisle saved her. Her first move as a vampire was to get revenge on the group of men, including her ex.

10 The Newborn Army Comes For Bella

The storyline of Eclipse revolves around an army of newborn vampires building up and targeting Bella. After Edward is responsible for taking James's life, Victoria makes it her mission to revisit the pain of losing a mate back on him and take Bella's. But because she's under the protection of the Cullens and Sam Uley's wolf pack, Victoria knows she has to come up with some serious power to get to her target. It's an adrenaline-packed moment when the army finally comes for Bella, and you second-guess whether Jacob and Edward really do have the power to save her this time.

9 We First Hear About Sam And Emily's Relationship

Obviously, the relationship between Bella and Edward is the central theme of the franchise, but there are some other meaningful relationships there too. When we first hear the story of Sam and Emily (and Leah), it's hard not to cry. Emily and Leah are cousins, and Sam and Leah used to date when he was still fully human. But when he phased into a wolf, he imprinted on Emily. So although he still loved Leah, Emily became his soulmate, breaking Leah's heart and causing a lot of family tension. At one stage, Sam lost control of his rage and lashed out at Emily, who still bears the scar on her face.

8 Bella And Edward Finally Tie The Knot

Bella and Edward's wedding has to be one of our favorite fictional weddings ever. Every detail is so perfect, and the best part is it's an event that we were waiting for since these two characters first met in the science lab in the first movie. Though this is by no means a happy ending, since they have endless struggles to face after tying the knot, it's nice that they get to this stage of their relationship and reach this milestone against all the odds. It's one of those scenes that convinces you that true love really can conquer anything.

7 They Have A Honeymoon That Gives Us All Unrealistic Expectations

Bella and Edward's wedding is a big deal, but their honeymoon deserves its own credit! After witnessing the magical vacation that these two take after being married, it's safe to say that we've all been set up for disappointment in our own lives because nothing could ever be that perfect. After dancing their way through the streets of Rio, Bella and Edward set off across the ocean to a private island where they have all the alone time they could want in paradise (a lot of which is spent playing chess). The honeymoon doesn't really end peacefully though since Bella finds out some life-changing news…

6 Bella Finds Out She's Pregnant

While on her honeymoon with her new vampire husband, Bella discovers that she's pregnant after an overwhelming feeling of sickness overtakes her. This is a monumental discovery for any woman, but it's especially tremendous news for Bella since the fetus she's carrying isn't all human (and is potentially dangerous for her). Bella being pregnant is a catalyst for the events of the rest of the franchise, so it's a pretty big moment for us too! Though she starts off her honeymoon feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, that all comes crashing down once she finds out she's with this child.

5 Bella's Pregnancy Makes Everyone Uncomfortable

Bella finding out she's pregnant is a big deal, but in truth, she has no idea what she's really in for. While growing inside of her, the baby makes her life pretty darn miserable and nearly kills her. Still, Bella grows as attached as any expectant mother and wants to protect her baby at all costs from any lingering vampires or werewolves that would do her harm. The special effects are particularly amazing during Bella's pregnancy too. With all the bones sticking out and snapping, it's safe to say that watching Bella carry that baby is more than a little uncomfortable.

    4 Bella Becomes A Vampire

At the end of the first Breaking Dawn, we get to see the moment we've been anticipating for longer than the wedding: Bella's transformation into a vampire. It's a very intense scene because after having her baby she almost loses her life (again). Just a warning in case you haven't seen it: there's a lot of blood. But once she's turned, there's a sense of calm and quiet after the chaos. And the last thing we see before the credits roll is Bella's closed eyes reopening, now tinted the deep dark red of a newborn vampire. Talk about chills!

    3 Jacob Imprints On Renesmee

A lot of fans have a problem with Jacob imprinting on Edward and Bella's baby, Renesmee, but whatever your feelings toward it, it's still an iconic scene. Since Renesmee effectively becomes Jacob's soulmate and the love of his life, the love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob is solved. Bella no longer has to feel guilty about choosing Edward over Jacob, because Jacob loves someone else. The only problem is that someone happens to be her daughter, and her daughter is an infant. We can definitely see why the critics weren't too impressed with this plot twist.

2 The New Parents Move Into A Magical Cottage

The cottage that Bella and Edward move into as a married couple doesn't really have a huge impact on the plot of the film, but it's so pretty that even after all this time, we are still obsessed with it. This is serious house goals! It might not be a huge mansion with all the trimmings, like what you'd see on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but it's quaint and magical. It seriously looks like something that's come out of a fairy tale, and that's kind of different from most of Twilight, which is filled with blood and teenage angst.

1 The Epic Final Fight That Could Have Been

The final fight that we see in the second Breaking Dawn film is probably the most dramatic moment in all of the Twilight films. Although it's different from what goes down in the book, the final confrontation between the Cullens and the Volturi is epic, to say the least. During this scene, we see the tragic deaths of more than one beloved character. The silver lining lies in the fact that this is all really a vision that Alice has, about what will happen if the battle does go ahead. So Aro pulls his Volturi forces back and saves everyone's lives. Happy days!
