21 Roles The Kardashians Starred In
You know their name. You know their (ever-changing) faces. You know the tones of their voices with their blatant California accents. That's right, everyone and their dog knows the name Kardashian, and if you don't… please, I want a piece of your world. Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kris and the rest of the family managed to force their way into TV and pop culture history with their E! reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which found its way onto small screens over a decade ago. Now, the family is one of the most powerful families in not only the entertainment business but in the world. They've even been considered as American royalty.
But, here's a little trivia: You know what ELSE the Kardashians have starred in? And we're talking about the itty-bitty, embarrassing-as-all-heck roles where they were literally told to act, something we all just assumed they could do.
When you have a powerful name, you can pretty much buy your way into whatever small TV/Movie role you want, which is what this family has been doing over the years. Only some of these parts they've come to extremely regret. And trust us, we regret them too. Here are 21 absolutely humiliating TV/movie/commercial/other roles that the Kardashians want erased from entertainment history.
21 Khloe Once Appeared (And Lost) On Celebrity Apprentice
I'm going to hand one of the Kardashians something here - despite losing during this specific season of Celebrity Apprentice, Khloe Kardashian (who I maintain is the strongest and smartest of the bunch) held her own against the future president of the free world. “I hated every minute of it,” Khloe said of shooting the show when she appeared on Chelsea Handler's Netflix talk show, Chelsea. “I was put in situations I would never be in real life.” Apparently, being on the show stressed her own to the point of madness and she absolutely despised host Donald Trump, who famously referred to her as a “fat piglet” in the 2009 season and even called her “the ugly Kardashian”. She's FAR from it, sir, and everyone knows that well these days.
20 Kim's Dancing With The Stars Utter Fail!
I assumed that when a celebrity was on their way out of the spotlight (or, better yet, being FORCED out of the spotlight due to their inability to act) they earned a one-way ticket to being featured on the reality show Dancing With The Stars (that final word should really be in quotations) so imagine my shock when Kim Kardashian starred in the seventh season of the show. Apparently, this was just for a rating boost because, of course, the reality TV star didn't last very long on the show. This was back in 2008 when KUWTK was in its second year on the air and Kris was desperate for more seasons, so she convinced bread-winner Kim to appear. She and partner Mark Ballas weren't the first to be kicked off (surprisingly enough), but rather the third. Kim actually enjoyed her time on the show and looked at it as a challenge.
19 … Oh, And She Also Was A Guest Host On America's Next Top Model
In all honesty, who the heck HASN'T been a guest judge on America's Next Top Model? This little guest star aired back in 2009 when the Kardashians were eagerly making their rounds all over the small screen because they were in such high demand at the time. “I'm just a big fan of the show and I adore Tyra (Banks, supermodel, and host of the show)”, Kardashian told PEOPLE.com. “I was so excited to give these girls advice and make a difference in their careers.” The producers of the show had actually reached out to her and requested to be a part of the show, which she accepted with delight since she was a massive fan of the show. She said doing the show was a challenge since she had a difficult time picking out the strongest contestant since “they all had really good heads on their shoulders”.
18 Before All Her Lip Kits, Kylie Starred In A Sears Commercial
If you were one of the people who was a fan of Keeping Up With The Kardashians way back from its start, you'll know that the youngest daughter of the Kardashian clan looks a little different these days. But back then, she was a daisy fresh pre-teen just attempting to figure out the ropes of success (something she thrives in these days). Back in 2009, Kylie Jenner actually stared in a commercial for the department store Sears. It was promoting something called “crush your style” which offered pre-teens and teens headed back to school a chance to win a prize for being able to put together a Sears outfit for $40 or under. The young girl is barely recognizable in the ad back then, but still as smart (and fashionable) as ever.
17 And The Razzie Goes To… Kim, For Her Role In Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor
Oh sigh - you knew at one point that at least ONE of the Kardashians was bound to star in one of director/writer/producer Tyler Perry's films. He was, in fact, one of the hottest directors to work with at the time. Back in 2013, the most famous Kardashian landed a role in Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. In the movie, Kim played Ava, a co-worker to the film's main character. Kim's part in the movie actually caused an uproar in Perry's female fanbase since they weren't too fond of the reality TV star. However, Perry stood by his decision to hire Kardashian… which I'm sure Kim regretted later since she ended up winning a Razzie (an award that's given to the worst movie performances during a year's time) for her acting skills. Ouch.
16 Oh, And She Also Starred in Drop Dead Diva
Back in 2012, Kim also starred in a four-episode stint on the Lifetime hit show Drop Dead Diva, where she played a relationship guru named Nikki LePree. The show's creator was actually in awe of Kim's skills as an actress and wrote the character of Nikki to reflect those specific strengths. “We wrote her a three-episode arc,” the creator explained to Dailymail.co.uk, “But, once she got on set and I was with her and got to see what her strengths were and we got to write to those. Her character goes head to head with Jane (the main character on the show). She's got a fantastic twist.” Turns out, that twist turns out to be the Nikki was a con artist who managed to swindle one of the main characters out of her life savings.
15 Khloe And Her Stint on Law & Order: Los Angeles
I'm gonna tell you a little secret: I actually LOVE when characters play themselves on television shows or in movies. Especially, if they're able to make fun of themselves for the sake of the show. Now, while Khloe Kardashian didn't do the latter of that former sentence, she was a joy to see on NBC's Law and Order: Los Angeles a few years back. Khloe played herself on the Dick Wolf drama. She can be seen working out in one of the opening sequences as the police question her about her involvement with a celebrity stylist who happened to be murdered. This doesn't seem too far off from Khloe in real life since we all know she's a workout guru (even while she's pregnant!). At the time, Khloe was in a struggling marriage with former NBA star Lamar Odom and was starring in the spin-off series Khloe and Lamar.
14 … As Well As Her Stint on Real Husbands of Hollywood With Momma Kris
I have to admit that I had no idea what even the Real Husbands of Hollywood were at the time, and I'm sorry I didn't know. The show is a reality television parody created by comedian Kevin Hart on BET and it pretty much spoofs overdramatic reality TV shows. The show stars Hart, Nelly, Nick Cannon and Boris Kodjoe among other stars (who always star as themselves). A few years back, Khloe and mama Kris actually starred as themselves on the show and, of course, Khloe landed some hilarious one-line zingers about Kris (as she usually does on Keeping Up With The Kardashians) during the first episode of season two of the Hart comedy when Khloe shows up at a fundraising auction where she spares no one from her brutal sarcasm. It's literally must-see TV.
13 I'm Pretty Sure Everyone And Their Dog Has Starred on Two Broke Girls At Least At One Point
I'm starting to believe that it's a right of passage for reality TV stars to do a cameo appearance on CBS's comedy series Two Broke Girls. Kim starred in the season four premiere of the comedy, and her cameo was meant to be a rating booster for the already tanking show (it went to last for a few more seasons - this season's being its last) AS WELL as a rating booster for Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which hit a sort of ratings snag back in 2014. However, ratings won't slow down that family. In that specific episode, the two main characters of the show (Max and Caroline) are approached by a reality TV show producer who wants to shoot an episode of KUWTK at their cupcake shop. Kim, of course, pops up as herself in the episode.
12 Following In Sis' Footsteps: Rob On Dancing With The Stars
It made more headlines when sister Kim starred on the reality show Dancing With The Stars, but regardless, brother Rob Kardashian attempted to dance his way into stardom by also appearing on the show at one point. Rob starred on the show a few years after Kim in 2011 and was paired up with Cheryl Burke. Now, of course, this was before his significant weight gain and trouble with baby mama Blac Chyna. Unlike his sis, Rob actually made it to the finals. His former partner has nothing but love for Kardashian and even defended him when he went on to gain more than 100lbs in one year and was visibly suffering from depression. “I know Rob really well, he's a normal guy and he's so sweet,” Burke told PEOPLE magazine. “I just don't think that he has anything to be insecure about.”
11 Pretty Sure No One Saw Disaster Movie, So You're Safe, Kim
For many years, parody films have been a significant (and hilarious) part of Hollywood. Some of my favorites include the Naked Gun series along with Airplane!. But Tinsel Town started coming up with a whole new batch of parody movie comedies, starting with the Scary Movie franchise along with all the other obvious titles that followed, including a movie called Disaster Movie. The spoof starred Matt Lanter, Vanessa Minnillo, Carmen Electra, and, of course, Kim Kardashian. The movie ended up falling flat on its face since it felt “forced” according to viewers and even received a 1% score on the review website Rotten Tomatoes. It was instantly forgettable and Kim most likely regrets doing the movie as most regret paying to actually watch it in the theater.
10 Remember Kim's Stint As A “Singer”? And Yes, This Was In Real Life
Back when KUWTK was still in its salad days, mama Kris encouraged her kids to try EVERYTHING that would maintain their staying power in the limelight. This included pushing Kim to pursue an actual singing career. Yup, that's right - back in 2011, Kim had a very short-lived singing career in which she released a single called “Jam (Turn it Up)”. Years later, Kim is able to joke about her attempting a singing career and even pokes fun at herself (she posted an Instagram pic with a caption featuring lyrics from the song). She even calls the venture one of her biggest regrets. “If there's one thing in life that I wish I didn't do (it's that)” she told Andy Cohen during a 2014 interview. “I don't like it when people kind of dabble into things they shouldn't be.” Thankfully, she's left the vocals up hubby Kanye West.
9 Kylie, Kris, And Kendall All Three Starred In An Episode Of America's Next Top Model
Well, if big sister Kim did it, why not more of the Kardashian clan? I'll hand it to Kim on in this case: when she guest starred on America's Next Top Model, she actually managed not to steal the spotlight from the competing models. However, when momma Kris and the two youngest Jenner daughters showed up on the show, they managed to wrangle the spotlight from everyone else. But in a ridiculously cool way. The siblings posed for a shoot and channeled the twins from The Shining as they posed with several of the contestants and mom Kris. It's particularly eerie, but would be even more-so if Kris hadn't been smiling. That appeared to be just the start of both girls' modeling careers - especially Kendall's, who is now a professional runway model.
8 The Jenner Sisters Once Appeared In A PartyNextDoor's Music Video (“Recognize”)
If you've been living under a rock, you wouldn't know who PartyNextDoor is, or that he happens to be one of Drake's protégées. A couple years back, the Toronto singer/songwriter actually featured not only Drake in his music video for “Recognize”, but also Kylie and Kendall Jenner as well. The sisters appeared in two scenes of the music video, but it's nothing like the scenes Kylie actually did a little later in PartyNextDoor's career when he did the music video for “Come and See Me” (when Kylie was 18), where the two made out heavily (while at the same time endorsing her own makeup line). Thankfully, “Recognize” was during a more innocent time and just featured the sisters dancing and having a good time. Man, do those two love making cameos in music videos.
7 And Of Course, Kylie Starred In Then Boyfriend Tyga's Music Video As A Zombie (“Dope'd Up”)
Speaking of music videos! Who can forget when Kylie went on to star in a few of then-boyfriend Tyga's music videos? Back when she was 16-years old, Kylie started a controversial relationship with then 24-year old rapper Tyga. The two only claimed they were “just friends” but anyone with eyes could see that that wasn't the case. They were very much in love and in a romantic relationship and really didn't even both to hide it, especially when it came to Kylie starring in Tyga's music videos. In his 2015 “Dope'd Up” music video, Kylie made a cameo appearance as a zombie, which appeared to be a throw-back to Michael Jackson's famous “Thriller” video. Jenner even had a few lines! Though, they seemed rather forced. Either way, it was a pretty cool throwback.
6 Kendall's Stint on Hawaii Five-0
You can't expect Kendall Jenner to sit on the sidelines while her sisters take ALL the good TV show cameos, now can you? Back in August of 2012, the model made her first official acting debut when she starred in the reboot of Hawaii Five-0. Kendall actually played the daughter of Scott Caan's character, Danny 'Danno' Willams. Jenner shared a screenshot of her part and posted it on Twitter after she was finished shooting the part. “I am so excited to finally share a pic of my acting debut with you guys! I'll be on Hawaii Five-O on November 5 so mark your calendars and set your DVRs!!!” she tweeted out to her then four million followers. “I had a blast shooting with the cast and crew-I hope you guys enjoy watching the episode as much as I enjoyed working on it! :D.”
5 Wait, Kim And Khloe Were In The New 90210?
A million and a half years ago (not really, back in 2010), The CW attempted to reboot the popular 1990's teenage drama Beverly Hills 90210, which actually didn't last for very long. However! It did last long enough for Kardashian sisters Kim and Khloe to star briefly on it. And, of course, they ended up stealing the show. “Kim and I shot 90210 today and we had a blast!” Khloe wrote on her blog. “It was such an honor to guest star on a hit show that so many people tune in to every week! We played exaggerated versions of ourselves which obviously wasn't too difficult to do but we were both still a little nervous LOL.” That part was actually Khloe's first major acting debut while it was her sister's third.
4 And Who Can Forget Kylie In Tyga's "Stimulated" Music Video?
And finally, we get to the music video that seemed to prove to the world that, yes, Kylie and Tyga were, in fact, a serious item. Of course, the world already knew it to be true and although they couldn't confirm it outright (due to, um, Kylie being underage and all) once Kylie hit 18 and the music video for Tyga's “Stimulated” came out, the relationship was all but confirmed. Heck, even the lyrics revolved all around their relationship “They say she young, I should've waited, she a big girl dog,”. The music video was very lovey-dovey with shots of the duo apparently head over heels in love with each other. The relationship came to an end about a year later. But hey, they'll always have that music video.
3 Kourtney Appearing As An Opera Star On One Life To Live
Back in 2011, the Kardashian family was throwing around their fame in order to land coveted roles on the small screen, and that included long-running soap operas. Yes, eagle-eyed fans all remember Kourtney Kardashian's stint on the soap opera One Life To Live, where she played a lawyer named Kassandra Kavanaugh who was arrested with show regular Cristian Vega. “I grew up watching One Life To Live,” the oldest Kardashian kid said in a press release. “This may be my acting debut but the Kardashians know a thing or two about drama.” Ugh, that they do. Apparently, her acting chops were rather stale so the episode fell flat on its face. Apparently, Kourtney has gone on to say that she didn't enjoy shooting the episode itself (maybe because it failed miserably?) and regrets it.
2 Kim in How I Met Your Mother
How I Met Your Mother was a creative concept for a show that lasted nine whole seasons on CBS and even managed four whole seasons without pulling in a Kardashian as a guest star! The show revolved around five best friends who were living it up in New York City, and specifically around the character of Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) who is telling the story of how he met the love of his life to his children in the distant future. Sure, the writers sort of dropped the ball in the final season and managed to shatter hearts in the last episode, but in all reality, they jumped the shark in season four when Kim Kardashian appeared briefly in the episode titled “Benefits” where she was just a talking head on the cover of a magazine. Sounds about right.
1 You KNOW The Pepsi Commercial Was Gonna Make An Appearance
You can't have a list like this and NOT feature one of the most controversial moments in Kardashian (and pop culture) history. Back in March of 2017, a tone-deaf Pepsi commercial featuring Kendall Jenner was yanked from the airwaves after only making a circulation for a couple of days. It shows the young model joining a protest march after seeing it from her photo shoot. She rips off her blonde wig and wipes away her lipstick before getting her hands on a can of Pepsi amongst the activists and walks up to an officer who is standing on the front-line of the protest and hands him a Pepsi. THEN EVERYTHING IS MAGICALLY BETTER! As we all know, Kendall deeply regrets doing the commercial and has been crying about it ever since.
