16 Potential Bridesmaids For Meghan Markle To Pick From
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been quietly dating for about a year and a half. They were introduced last summer by a mutual friend and have had an international love affair ever since. She'd visit him in London. He'd visit her in Toronto. And we all waited with baited breath to see if our princess dreams were going to come true. And then, we got our wish.
On November 27, we found out that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were officially engaged! YAY! People all around the world cheered for the beautiful royal couple. It's been so fun watching the ginger Prince and his American actress girlfriend show off their love over the last year or so. And now that they are officially betrothed, their couple status has gone up a level. They're not doing interviews together and attending royal functions. Meghan has managed to fit right in across the pond. No doubt all of her years as a Hollywood actress have given her the skills needed to play a polite princess to be. But while she's busy attending charitable events and greeting fans, Meghan is also going to have her hands full planning a wedding. The date has been set for May 26. But one important question remains - who is Meghan tapping to be one of her bridesmaids? Let's check out the contenders for Meghan's bride tribe.
16 Serena Williams
Tennis star and recent newlywed Serena Williams would be a great choice. Serena and Meghan met at a charity sports event back in 2014. Meghan said, "We hit it off immediately, taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing in, and chatting not about tennis or acting, but about all the good old fashioned girly stuff… We are both the same age, have a penchant for hot sauces, and adore fashion." Since then, they've stayed close friends. They attend events together and support one another at work functions. Sadly, Meghan and Prince Harry didn't make an appearance at Serena's wedding earlier this year. But we're thinking it's because Meghan didn't want to seal the spotlight by bringing a prince as her date. That wouldn't be very nice for the bride. So really, it just proves what a great friend she is!
15 Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra is another Hollywood heavyweight who could make an appearance in a lilac bridesmaid dress. The duo met at a dinner celebrating women in television and became fast friends. Since then, they've been spotted on dates all over the place such as dinner in Malibu or taking in Hamilton together in New York. Priyanka has also been a fierce supporter of Meghan's. When media outlets ask her about the relationship, she's quick to come to her friend's defense. Priyank said, "Sometimes women become plus-ones and guys become plus-ones. It's who is on the radar more. I think in an overall scheme of things, it's harder for for girls to be able to make their own and stand for what they are, and I'm a girl love kind of girl." She knows that Meghan is so much more than just Prince Harry's fiancé.
14 Kate Middleton
Of course, Kate Middleton (or the Duchess of Cambridge) would be an obvious choice for Meghan's bridal party. After all, once the knot is tied these two will be sisters in law! It's no secret that Kate, Prince William and Prince Harry are all close. Hopefully Meghan fits right into this foursome. But it would go a long way if she were to make Kate a part of the wedding, as Harry will no doubt have his brother, William, be one of his groomsmen. Apparently Kate and Meghan were introduced earlier this year and hit it off. The only issue with Kate as a bridesmaid? The Duchess is due to give birth in the spring. So by May 26th she'll either be super pregnant or fresh out of delivery. Either way, she may not be able to stand up for Meghan on the big day.
13 Olivia Palermo
Olivia Palermo is a big name in fashion circles. She's a New York socialite and fashionista. Everything she wears is absolutely flawless. So maybe Meghan is thinking she wouldn't want Olivia in her bridal party. After all, she doesn't want to get outdone by one of her own bridesmaids. But that doesn't seem to be the kind of person Meghan is. She and Olivia met years ago through fashion circles. Whenever they are in the same city, they love to get together. And when they can, they love to attend fashion shows together. The above shot is of the two attending New York Fashion Week together. So maybe Olivia won't make the cut for the bridal party. But perhaps she can help Meghan pick out her dress? She definitely has the eye for fashion.
12 Jessica Mulroney
Jessica Mulroney is one of Meghan's closest friends. They've been buddies ever since Meghan moved to Toronto, Canada back in 2011 for the filming of Suits. These two are super close. Meghan loves sharing snaps of Jessica and Jessica's daughter on her Instagram. The two have taken roadtrips together and have gone on vacations together. The snap above is from their girls trip to Italy. Meghan, where was our invite? Meghan also introduced Jessica to Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto back in September. So you know she's a good friend. Not just anyone gets to meet Harry. And now that she knows Harry, Jessica has an even better shot at becoming a bridesmaid. She'd be a great addition to the bride tribe. Know why? Jessica runs the Kleinfeld bridal store in Toronto so she will definitely be able to help Meghan find a dress.
11 Misha Nonoo
Millie Mackintosh is a UK socialiate and former star of the TV show Made In Chelsea. She's also a great friend of Meghan's. Millie has a good shot of being in the bridal party thanks to proximity. She's one of Meghan's closest friends who actually lives in the UK. So she'll be around for all of the cake tastings, florist meetings and dress fittings. The duo are both Soho House members and love visiting the Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordhire in The Cotsworld. Millie also has some experience with royal weddings, indirectly at least. Her Made In Chelsea costar, Spencer Matthews, is brother in law to Pippa Middleton. He was the best man at her wedding and probably got lots of face time with Kate Middleton, Prince William and their kiddos. So we're sure he's got lots of advice for Millie.
9 Heather Dorak
Heather Dorak is one of Meghan's friends from her hometown of Los Angeles. There Heather works as a pilates instructor. So Meghan might bring her in to help with some pre-wedding fitness. Not that Meghan needs to do any! She's super gorgeous. Outside of pilates, the two are still great friends. They've been on vacation together - like their trip to Europe above with Misha and a few other girlfriends. And Meghan even spent last Christmas with Heather and her family in LA. Now you have to be pretty close friends to spend the holidays together. Maybe Heather is hoping Meghan will return the favor and invite her and her family to Kensington Palace this Christmas. We doubt it. But how awesome would it be to spend Christmas with the royals? Opening presents in Kensington Palace and having Christmas breakfast with the Queen at Buckingham Palace?
8 Zara Phillips
Zara Phillips is Harry's cousin. So if Meghan wants to try and make good with her new family, she might be inviting someone from Harry's side of the family, like Zara, to be in her bridal party. Zara would be able to relate to Meghan as she's a royal who married a commoner. In 2011, Zara married Mike Tindall, an English rugby player. Talk about straying outside of the norm! Not only did she pick a non-royal partner but she went for a rugby player. But Zara has always been a bit of a rule breaker. She's most well-known for being an equestrian, a sport that brought her all the way to the Olympics. She won a silver medal in the 2012 Olympics in London and had the medal presented to her by my her mother, Princess Anne.
7 Lindsay Roth
Lindsay Roth is a producer and author. But more importantly, she has been dubbed Meghan's best friend! The two met during a literature class at Northwestern University over 15 years ago and have been friends every since. Lindsay even based a character in her book "What Pretty Girls Are Made Of" off of Meghan. And the biggest sign that Lindsay is going to be in the wedding? Meghan was in Lindsay's wedding! In fact, Meghan was the maid of honor. Lindsay had this to say about Meghan, "I think people assume that when someone gains notoriety that they change. But she's still the same girl I met years ago, with the same values and priorities. She's selfless, and that's just a part of who she is and who she was raised to be. I don't know many people who are as generous and supportive as Meg is."
6 Janina Gavankar
Janina Gavankar is one of Meghan's oldest and bestest friends. The two actresses have been friends for over 15 years. Janina has been seen in Star Wars, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries. It seems that she and Meghan came up in Hollywood together and always had each other's backs. Meghan even inspired Janina to launch her own lifestyle blog, altfound, like Meghan's own website, The Tig. Janina would definitely be another beautiful addition the bridal party. And it would probably be nice for Meghan to have someone by her side who has known her for so long. It seems like these two have always been around for the big moments in each other's lives. And what could be bigger than Meghan marrying a real life prince? Nothing! Get Janina on the plane to London ASAP.
5 Sarah Rafferty
Of course, we can't forget about Meghan's Suits co-stars as potential bridesmaids for her upcoming wedding. After all, she's spent the last six years of her life on this show. One Suits star who might get the call is Sarah Rafferty. Meghan and Sarah have worked on Suits for a long time, and their characters, Donna and Rachel, are good friends. Luckily, so are the two actresses in real life! Meghan has even called Sarah her Suits sister-wife. You have to be pretty close to drop that nickname on someone. Sarah has also been one of those actresses out front supporting Meghan. When doing press for Suits, Sarah is often pressed to leak details about Meghan's personal life. But she has remained tight lipped. She's said that she's excited for Meghan and that she knows Meghan is capable of so much.
4 Benita Litt
Benita Litt is one of Meghan's closest friends. In fact, they are so close that Meghan is godmother to Benita's daughters. Now that's gotta give Benita lots of points in the bridesmaid category. The two also love to vacation together - the snap above posted on Meghan's Instagram is the duo in Ibiza, Spain. Meghan has spent Christmases with Benita and her family, which definitely means these two are tight. When she's not being Meghan's bestie, Benita runs her own successful bag company, Legend of Lido. Maybe she could make a custom line of purses for the bridesmaids? That would be such a cute gift. Plus, if they're spotted by the media, those bags would sell like hotcakes. It pays to be friends with a future royal! Benita also runs a brand agency where she helps other people start their own businesses.
3 Samantha Grant
Samantha Grant is a controversial choice for Meghan's bridal party. On one hand, you'd think Samantha would be a shoo in because she's Meghan's half sister. When Will and Kate got married, they both had their siblings stand up for them. Why wouldn't Meghan follow suit and invite her sister? Well, Meghan and Samantha aren't exactly close. In fact, Samantha has been saying some pretty nasty things about Meghan in the press. Samantha has called Meghan a social climber and said she has a soft spot for gingers. She's claiming that Meghan is only with Harry to elevate her own status. Samantha also claims that she raised Meghan herself for 12 years and that the two grew distant after Samantha was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Ouch. Doesn't sound like the Meghan Markle we know. Maybe these two will be able to patch things up in time for the wedding.
2 Amanda Schull
Amanda Schull is another one of Meghan's co-stars on Suits and a close friend of the actress. In fact, Meghan captioned this photo on her Instagram saying "To be clear, I have been in love with @amandaschull since she was in Center Stage and she just touched my face." She also threw in the hashtag #forevergirlcrush. So it sounds like Meghan would be pretty honored to have Amanda in her bridal party. As a trained ballet dancer, Amanda may be able to offer Meghan some tips for her first dance. Not that Meghan and Harry will be busting out any pirouettes or fancy twirls for their first dance. But it never hurts to learn a few graceful steps. Sarah is also from Hawaii originally, so maybe she could help with the honeymoon planning if the newlyweds were considering Hawaii for their getaway.
1 Abigail Spencer
Last but not least is another Suits co-star of Meghan's, Abigail Spencer. Meghan and Abigail met while filming and have remained good friends. Abigail has nothing but good things to say about Meghan. She told Vanity Fair, "She's got warm elegance, though her style is hard to pin down. It's classy and timeless. When you're talking to her, you feel like you're the only person on the planet. And it's just wonderful to see her so in love." What a supportive thing to say! Abigail would be great at giving a toast to the newlyweds at the wedding reception or speaking to the press leading up to the big day. Her Hollywood training as an actress would also help her to act her way through any crazy situations she might find herself in during their media storm of a wedding.
