In 2006, Kardashian and Lachey briefly dated, during which time he felt as though she alerted the paparazzi that they were at the movies. In an interview, Lachey explained, “Let's just say this: We went to a movie. No one followed us there. Somehow, mysteriously, when we left, there were 30 photographers waiting outside.”

Lachey strongly implied that Kardashian used his fame to jumpstart her own career, which is such a Kim K thing to do. But ain't no shame in Kim K's game. As one source says, “She wanted to get her photo in the magazines and knew being seen next to Nick would be big news since he just ended his marriage. According to sources, it was at this time that Cruise was getting deep into Scientology and Cruz refused to give up Buddhism. This became a major issue in the relationship and the pair split.

After this, it's said that the Church of Scientology would hold auditions for women to become Cruise's next wife.
