16 Big Name Celebs Who Have Lied Before And Will Probably Lie Again
It is one thing to lie-then, it is a whole 'nother thing to lie when there is no need to. Some individuals get so accustomed to fabricating that they do so even when there is no clear purpose. When their fibs are readily disproved, it leaves everyone scratching their heads over the point of their deceptions. Well, the top reason people lie (when it just doesn't matter) is because they actually do think it matters. While everyone around them thinks it's an meaningless issue, the liar believes it is crucially important. They may be putting unfair emphasis or pressure on themselves, or on the issue, but you won't know unless you ask something like, “It seems like this issue is really pivotal to you - how come?”
An example of this, is when lawyer/comedian Star Jones credited her astounding weight loss to exercise and diet. But uh… not quite! Jones instead, underwent a "secret" gastric bypass procedure. Like, why Star!? We truly don't care how she lost her weight, although she evidently felt the trivial matter was of great significance. On the flip side, you have those that lie understandably-to protect their image or/and brand, to avoid public humiliation, etc. The perfect example of this, two words: Milli Vanilli!
However you dressed it up, a lie is still a lie (and it is still totally uncool). Below are 16 big name celebs who have lied before and, will probably lie again. You can thank us later for the heads up.
16 Kylie Jenner - "I Get 'Em From My Mamma"
For a duration of time, Kylie Jenner suggested that her lips appeared bigger simply because of the way she applied her makeup. It was not until May 2015 that she finally let the cat out of the bag and acknowledged that she had temporary lip fillers. On an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Ms. Kylie Jenner said: "I have temporary lip fillers, it's just an insecurity of mine and it's what I wanted to do… I want to admit to the lips, but people are so quick to judge me on everything, so I might have tiptoed around the truth, but I didn't lie."
Hmm, if that's not a lie than someone tell us please what is! Getting lip fillers is totally different than making your lips look fuller by drawing on them with lip-liner. Now don't mistake us, there is absolutely nothing wrong with altering how you look if it makes you feel better inside-but still, there's no need to lie to us about it Kylie.
15 Miley Cyrus - "I've Lied Alot, Okay? Sue Me!"
Instead of Miley Cyrus - perhaps, we should call her Miley LIErus! The "Malibu" songstress has not only lied once, but she has actually fibbed to us on numerous occasions. Cyrus wrote in her 2009 autobiography: "I guess my idea of a good party is someone getting their face smashed in cake, not getting smashed. I don't drink… " Following the book release, Cyrus was so spotted out on the town hitting up nightclubs and drinking with the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.
Another time she fibbed, is when she was asked about One Directon in January 2013. Cyrus mocked disinterest, saying, "I mean, don't ask me to name a song or something because I can't do that. I know what they look like. I think I met Harry [Styles], I think, backstage. I don't really remember." However prior to the statement, Cyrus had posted a photo on Twitter of herself cuddling a cardboard cut-out of Styles which she tagged with the singer's name!
14 Taylor Swift - "Go With Whatever Line You Think Is Hotter"
In 2016, Kim Kardashian used Snapchat to prove Taylor Swift was a liar. Swift's camp leaked to the public that the singer was upset over Kanye West's line on his song "Famous" - "For all my Southside n****s that know me best / I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that b**** famous." Kardashian in turn, posted a series of videos that attest Swift gave West permission to rap about her on the infamous The Life of Pablo single.
In the footage posted on Snapchat, West asks Swift for permission to use a version of the line over the phone from his studio. Swift gives her consent and thanks Ye for bringing the line to her before recording and releasing it. When Kardashian appeared on the cover of GQ shortly after, she confirmed again that Swift had approved Kanye's line and suggested that her conversation with West had been caught on camera (only she get blocked by Swift's legal team once they learned about its existence). The existence of a letter from Swift's attorney could not keep Kardashian silent obviously! Busted Taylor…
13 Kim Kardashian West - "Only Tape I Know About, Is Duck… "
Kim Kardashian and Nick Cannon dated briefly beginning in September 2006, but the relationship terminated in January 2007. Still, it wasn't until 2012 that the reason behind their abrupt split was exposed. In an interview, Cannon explained that he had called it quits after discovering that Kim had lied about having an 'adult-time' tape with Ray J.
Cannon expressed, “This was my issue. We talked about this tape… And she told me there was no tape. If she might have been honest with me I might have tried to hold her down and be like: 'that was before me', because she is a great girl. She's actually one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. But the fact that she lied and told me that there was no tape?”
Aside from lying to Nick, in an interview with Complex, Kim K was asked bout the tape and she denied it. Though a few months later, the mag asked her about it again (the tape had dropped by this point) and Kardashian finally fessed up.
12 Britney Spears - "I'm As Pure As Snow"
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were the supreme celeb couple back in the early 2000's. While together, Spears contended that she was "saving" herself for marriage. In a 2000 interview, Britney said, "The purity issue. It's a personal decision and it reflects how I feel right now about myself. There are so many emotions involved that I would like to be able to wait until I know I'm with the right person and I'm married."
After the pair broke up, the truth came out in 2002 during a 20/20 interview with Timberlake, in which he admitted they were intimate. Addressing the entire situation in a 2003 interview, Spears came clean and stated: "It was two years into my relationship with Justin. And I thought he was the one. But I was wrong. I didn't think he was gonna go on Barbara Walters and sell me out." We feel Timberlake on this one though… you shouldn't of lied Brit!
11 Victoria Beckham - “They're Official Alright… ”
Back in 1999, Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham stepped out in public with perceptibly larger mammaries - going from a 34A to a 34DD! Whoa that's drastic. However, when asked about cosmetic alteration, Beckham stressed that her 'inflated look' was a result of support tape and push-up bras. She even stated, “I'm completely natural, except for my fingernails, and I have a bit of help with my hair and a bit of a St Tropez going on.”
Twelve years down the road, in a 2011 interview Victoria unintentionally let it slip out that she had had her implants removed when she remarked, “No torpedo bazookas, either. Gone.” When the interviewer pressed to explicate what she meant, Victoria recognized her slip-up and declined to elaborate any further. Mm hmm, busted!
10 Jennifer Lopez - "No, Really, I'm 21"
After telling anyone who would take two seconds to listen that she was born in 1970, Jennifer Lopez was forced to admit to NYPD police officers that she was in fact born in 1960 after she and (then boyfriend) Puff Daddy were questioned about a shooting incident that occurred in a nightclub which resulted in three people being injured. On December 27, 1999, JLo, Diddy, and Bad Boy artist Shyne were at Club New York in Manhattan when gunfire broke out. After a police investigation, ultimately Shyne was sentenced to 10 years in prison and Diddy was acquitted at trial.
As far as JLo is concerned-since she's lied before, she probably will lie again to us. With all those rocks that she's got, who's to say Jenny is even from the block! She's probably from the burbs or a horse ranch in the country somewhere.
9 Rick Ross - "I'm Not A Cop, I Just 'Cuff A Lot"
Hip hop artist Rick Ross, whose birth name is William Leonard Roberts II, is best known for his hits “B.M.F.” (Blowing Money Fast), "Aston Martin Music" and "Idols Become Rivals". In 2008, rumors began circulating that Ross was actually a cop before he became a rapper, but Ross promptly threw out those insinuations.
However, a photograph of Rick Ross in (a police) uniform surfaced online not long after. At first, Ross refuted the report, alleging the site of photoshopping his image. The rapper later disclosed that he did in fact work as a correctional officer in the early 90s! Despite confirming his former career, Ross to this day still sustains that his drug-dealing lyrics represent his real past. Right… and OJ Simpson's broke and has no money to pay the Goldman family!
8 Nicki Minaj - "I Get Younger, Not Older"
Like Jennifer Lopez and numerous other celebrities, Nicki Minaj got caught in a small "white lie" about her age. In a July 2011 police report (obtained by TMZ), Minaj stated she was born Dec. 8, 1982. Normally that would not be an issue, except for the fact that she had previously told everyone she was younger.
Several publications - including cover stories in Billboard's November 2010 issue and Complex's October/November 2010 issue - cited the hip hop star as 26-years-old. The math is a little puzzling here, but it just does not add up. Considering Minaj was born in 1982, that means her age was imprecise in all of those articles. At the time, she would have actually been 27 years old.
7 Tiger Woods - “I Only Need One Girl In My World”
In late 2009, Tiger Woods came face to face with a lie that turned his billion dollar earned (before taxes) world upside down. After Woods crashed his SUV into a fire hydrant near his house (as a result of his then-wife Elin Nordegren attacking his vehicle with a golf club!), Tiger attempted to down play the incident and asked for privacy.
In the pursuing months, the cause of Elin's outburst was unconcealed, when news broke that Tiger Woods had over 100 affairs over the span of his 5-year marriage. Wowsers! Using the $100 million she received from her divorce from Woods, Nordegren built an estate and is now chilling like a villain in the world somewhere. You see, liars never prosper… or is it cheaters? Doesn't matter really, Tiger's both!
6 Tyga - "Straight Out The Valley!"
Street cred (aka street credibility) is fundamentally a requirement of being a rapper, because minus it - you could potentially lose your stripes in the rap community. Prior to Kanye West and Young Thug, hip hop artists without street cred would tend to lie about their upbringing, claiming they were raised in the ghetto like their fellow colleagues. Tyga - is no exception.
Tyga has always insisted that he is from Compton (CA), however fans began doubting the rapper's authenticity after the former YMCMB member was filmed bragging about his affluent parents and his posh upbringing in The Valley! After the release of the footage, Tyga tried to save his street cred by saying that his family was only rich during the time of the taping… and that he is really from Compton. Man, you come right out of a comic book Tyga!
5 Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie - “We're Just Buddy Ol' Pals”
In 2004, while filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie found themselves in the middle of a tornado of romance gossip. Tabloids began reporting, that Jolie and Pitt had become more than just friends during shooting, however both stars rejected the accusations and Pitt upheld that he was faithful to (his wife at the time) Jennifer Aniston. However, in 2008 during an interview with the New York Times, Angelina confessed that the rumors of her and Pitt were very much true.
The Salt star stated, “Not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love.” Pitt supported Jolie's confession when he was interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine. When asked why Mr. & Mrs. Smith was his favorite movie, Pitt responded, “Because I fell in love.” This is a flawless example of 'birds of a feather' flocking together.
4 Justin Bieber - "Somebody Done Jacked My Laptop!"
The only thing worse than a celebrity who lies as a part of a publicity stunt, is well, NOTHING! In 2012, pop megastar Justin Bieber took to Twitter, tweeting that his laptop had been stolen and that the bandit had leaked photos saved to his computer - one photo being an au naturel pic (of course).
After he nettled up his millions of Beliebers, it was later divulged that Bieber's laptop was actually not stolen and that the whole story was just a publicity stunt for the release of his music video 'Beauty and a Beat' (featuring Nicki Minaj, another liar on our list!). Who said two deceivers couldn't make beautiful music together, because 'Beauty and a Beat' is the jam!
3 Beyoncé - "Nah, I Wrote 'Dat"
Beyoncé has received songwriting credits on practically every song she's ever recorded since her days as a member of Destiny's Child. Queen Bey still always manages to assume songwriting credits despite several of her songs being written (and sometimes even recorded) by the original songwriter. When speaking to the press about her 2006 album B-Day, Beyoncé told one reporter that she wrote the majority of the tracks including 'Irreplaceable'. However, it was later revealed that Ne-Yo actually wrote 'Irreplaceable', and that it was initially intended for himself, but he had decided it would be more impactful if sang by a female.
In 2010, 'Diva' producer Bangladesh busted Beyoncé's songwriting credits telling a pub, “People from the outside looking in want to know whether or not she writes her own songs, she's on a level where things are handed to her. People want to be a part of what she's doing. She either wrote it or can put her name on it… because that's the boss she is.” As you see, Beyoncé has already lied to us twice!
2 Bill Clinton - "I Did NOT Put My Hand In The Cookie Jar"
In January 2008, former President Bill Clinton rebuffed whispers that he had engaged in an affair with White House intern (at the time), Monica Lewinsky. During his most infamous speech, Clinton said: “I want to say something to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again, I did not have sensual dealings with that woman. I never told anybody a lie. These allegations are false.”
Yet on August 17th, Clinton conceded everything in a televised address, stating: “Indeed I did have a relationship with Ms Lewinsky that was not appropriate. In fact, it was wrong. I misled people, including my wife. I deeply regret that. This matter is between me, the two people I love most - my wife and my daughter - and our God.” This pretty much slayed the former president's credibility, however in urban areas Clinton became known as a saxophone blowing, plant consuming playa playa from the Himalayas!
1 Steve Rannazzisi - "I Worked At The World Trade Center On 9/11… "
Comedian and The League cast member, Steve Rannazzisi built a whole career on a lie! He claimed, that he escaped certain death on September 11. Rannazzisi said that he worked for Merrill Lynch in the World Trade Center on the day of Sept 11, 2001, tagged as the worst terrorist attack in America's history. He plainly declared to have escaped the burning/collapsing high-risers, but throughout the years, details about his 9/11 survival story altered.
A New York Times column exposed him as a liar, and Rannazzisi ran to Twitter to express compunction at allowing his lie spiral out of control. The comic later went on Howard Stern to own up to his falsehood, in essence chalking the fibs up to his way of seeking acceptance when he first migrated to Los Angeles. We admit, this may be the worst celebrity lie of them all due to the nature of the past tragedy… BIG shame on you Steve.
