15 Unlikely Celeb Pairings We Never Thought Would Get Together
Celebrities hook up with each other every day, just like regular people. It happens, though, often at places, regular folks don't have access to, such as backstage at an awards show or concert or on the set of a movie or TV show.
Sometimes those meetings turn into dates and even affairs, and sometimes they turn into full-fledged relationships.
Honestly though, quite often, perhaps more often than we think, these hookups are with completely different people, people we imagine would never in a million years be attracted to each other.
But then again, it's been said that opposites attract. Whatever the case, they find enough common ground to date, be seen together and sometimes marry and start a family. The truth is being in the limelight and having to deal with the paparazzi and other nosy media types may be one of the things that they share. Another patch of common ground may be having to deal with the constant pressure of looking good, staying out of trouble (of course they all don't succeed at that) and making good choices in movies or TV scripts.
One thing that really seems to surprise folks is when a stunning woman starts going out with a dude who is at best average looking or worse… downright fugly. Although it's more common than people think, another curiosity bender is when a young man goes for a much older woman.
The bottom line comes back to the fact that celebrities often make odd choices just like regular people. But because they are in the limelight, their odd choices become big-time news.
15 Sofia Vergara And Enrique Iglesias Hooked Up Before She Became A 'Modern Family' Wife
With Modern Family in its eighth season, co-star Sofia Vergara remains a popular figure in pop culture with her Latin accent and curvaceous body. She's even secured some commercials. Actually, the dynamic diva was a big success in Latin America before she hit the big time in the U.S. So right before Iglesias got serious with Anna Kournikova, he hooked up with Vergara and the two dated for a short time. Image those two sexy symbols together… the women would go bonkers over him, and the dudes would be ogling her. Could they even go out in public? And would they talk to each other in English or Spanish? They fling was brief and neither of them ever talks about it, so guess we'll never know the juicy details.
14 Matthew McConaughey Really Did Date Janet Jackson
When rumblings rose that actor Matthew McConaughey was dating pop singer Janet Jackson in 2002, he denied it, calling her just a friend and a “dear lady.” According to insiders, Jackson and McConaughey met backstage at the Grammys, where they talked about music and apparently swapped contact info. Although he denied a thing for the “Nasty” singer, she didn't discount that they dated, telling Upscale magazine they did see each other for a short time. “I guess we did date,” she told the magazine. “He is a great guy and such a sweetheart. It was just for a minute, that's why I am so hesitant to mention it.” Well, Ms. Jackson, in the words of former hit-making group Tavares, “It only takes a minute, girl, to fall in love.” OK, that didn't happen. LOL.
13 Britney Spears And Colin Farrell Made Out And…
The pop princess Britney Spears has had her share of hookups, but probably the biggest surprise was her pairing with actor Colin Farrell. She even attended the premiere of one of his movies, The Recruit. And afterward, the two were seen snuggling at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. After a brief embrace, they went inside and were later seen kissing on a hotel balcony. Farrell later denied it all, saying they were just “mates,” but who kisses their friends like that? A year later, Britney married dancer Kevin Federline, who she divorced a few years later. About 10 years down the road, though, it was reported that Spears called Farrell “the one that got away.” Farrell hasn't taken her up on the offer to give it one more try, and instead recently admitted he used to write love letters to the late Marilyn Monroe when he was just 8 years old. Farrell is 41 (born in 1976)… Monroe died in 1962.
12 Did Jessica Alba Cash In On 50 Cent?
A lot of folks might not know that Jessica Alba's first big role was in a series called Dark Angel. That's actually where she met Michael Weatherly, with whom she had a relationship. Since then she's been in a number of movies and has launched her own pretty successful business. Along the way, she also met film/TV director Cash Warren (son of Hill Street Blues actor Michael Warren). It looked like Warren and Alba were going to live happily ever after until 2007 when she met rapper/actor/producer 50 Cent. Oh oh! While 50 Cent was on tour, she showed up in the Netherlands and he even invited her on stage. He referred to her as “the loveliest woman in Hollywood.” They were seen snuggling at a romantic dinner as well. It appeared to be a short fling, as a year later in May, Alba married longtime partner Cash Warren, and they seem to be hanging in there and have two children, Haven and Honor.
11 Two Disney Kids: One Bad Date
Hilary Duff is one of those former Disney kids with a squeaky-clean image. She's currently one of the stars of the TV Land hit Younger. Shia LaBeouf, also once a Disney kid on the show Even Stevens, has a rep for being a bit of a bad boy in Hollywood. The Transformers star has been linked to Megan Fox (and that was when she had just reportedly started dating Brian Austin Green as well), in addition to a few others. The story goes that Duff and LaBeouf hooked up and went out for sushi. No one but the two of them knows what happened, but they only hooked up that one time because according to LaBeouf, it was “the worst date ever.” Ouch! Duff married hockey player Mike Comrie in 201o, but the two divorced in 2016. LaBeouf has never married.
10 Victoria Beckham Got Spicey With Corey Haim
Before she married David Beckham and became Victoria Beckham, she was Victoria Adams, also known as Posh Spice of the girl group The Spice Girls. It was the '90s and the lovely lady was into a young actor by the name of Corey Haim. The two met at a recording studio in London, and that was the beginning of a trans-ocean romance. And it got serious, too, so serious that Haim later confirmed that Victoria took him home to meet her parents at one point. The all American bad boy later said of the British pop star: “When she kisses she does this cool little thing… She just [has this] little 'Grrr' gnaw thing,” he explained to Access Hollywood. “[It felt] like a girl gnawing on your lip.” The two eventually broke up over what she claimed was his jealousy issues. 9 Ashton Kutcher Didn't Think January Jones Could Act
Ashton Kutcher has been linked to several celebrity ladies, including Amy Smart, Brittany Murphy, Demi Moore, whom he married, and That '70s Show co-star Mila Kunis, whom he also married. But before his wives, he hooked up with January Jones for about three years, who was a model at the time. According to media reports, Jones says Kutcher was not supportive of her acting career. He supposedly told her straight out that she wouldn't be successful. Once they split, she started auditioning and landed the role of Betty on the critically acclaimed Mad Men. Oh, and by the way, Jones was nominated for a Golden Globe. There were rumors a few years later when Kutcher was married to Demi Moore, that he had a one-nighter with Jones, and she got pregnant. Jones has never said who is the father of her son Xander.
8 Ryan Reynolds And Alanis Morissette Got Engaged
Alanis Morissette is married now, but for about four years she had an on and off again relationship with actor Ryan Reynolds. She's a multi-platinum-selling singer/songwriter once signed to Madonna's label and he's a comedic actor. Both, incidentally, are from Canada. Something attracted the two, so much so, that they dated for two years, broke up, then got back together, and got engaged. Then the final split came after two more years. Although their publicists reported the split was mutual, it seems Alanis truly hurt the most. Her next album after the split, "Flavors of Entanglement", was the most emotional since her big debut, "Jagged Little Pill." In an interview with the OC Register, she admitted much of the material was a result of her grieving over lost love. She is now married to Mario Treadway. Reynolds is now married to Blake Lively.
7 Seth McFarlane And Emilia Clarke Couldn't Handle Distance, Lack Of Privacy
He's a goofy yet very creative kind of guy responsible for hits such as Family Guy and the Ted movies. She's a serious actress caught up in the Game of Thrones saga. There was also a 15-year age gap. Their differences in genre and age weren't the problem though. It seems what busted the pair up was handling a long-distance relationship. She was filming in Europe and he was mostly based in Hollywood. McFarlane gushed when he talked about her, but he also claimed part of the problem was a lack of privacy, an issue a lot of Hollywood couples face. McFarlane said she was “an incredibly kind, supremely talented person and one of the hardest-working people I have ever met.” He also complained about finding peace and quiet in Tinseltown. “It's a pain in the a$$ because if you date, at a certain point you're in a relationship and at a certain point, you're playing the field. It becomes this thing of trying to find places where you can have some privacy, where you're not going to be accosted by people and suddenly linked to someone as if you're in a serious relationship.”
6 Carmen Electra's Personal Idol: Simon Cowell
Baywatch co-star and former Playboy model Carmen Electra once dated American Idol star, Simon Cowell. And she had nothing but good things to say about the music artist critic. She told the Daily Mail not that long after they broke up that he is “awesome and very charming.” That's pretty wonderful of Electra, considering the reason for their break-up was supposedly because Electra busted him with another woman - a married woman at that - named Lauren Silverman. Electra, who dated Cowell for about three months, also said of him: "I just thought Simon was just so much fun and was so smart and he's really interesting.” Cowell and Electra met on the set of Britain's Got Talent. Electra was once married to Dave Navarro, lead singer for the group Jane's Addiction.
5 Nicole Kidman And Q-Tip Made Beautiful Couple
After Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise split, the lovely lady from down under went into an experimental phase. She frequently was seen attending events and dining out with Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest. Their little fling went on for some time, and after it died down, Q-Tip, whose real name is Kamaal Fareed, was asked during a radio interview if he had slept with the Oscar-winning actress, his answer was “Yes,” reported ContactMusic.com. Kidman's experimental phase didn't stop there. After Q-Tip, she also dated musician Lenny Kravitz. Next was actor Jude Law. And after that was singer Keith Urban, whom she eventually married. That match has stood the test of time, so far, and even survived his battle with drug addiction. Actually, he often credits her with helping him get through rehab and coming out clean.
4 Seal And Tyra Banks Made Beautiful Music Together

And then there was Heidi Klum, who had just gotten out of a bad relationship with a white dude who had reportedly not been very nice to her. But back to Seal and Banks… although they were dating, they stayed under the radar, stepping out only once officially as a couple to attend the Essence Awards. At the time of their romance, Seal was 11 years older than Banks. She did not sit around pining for the singer. Over time, she has hooked up with a number of celebrities, including Will Smith, Rupert Everett, Hype Williams, John Singleton, Brian White, and even Tyler Perry.
3 Johnny Depp Wanted To Marry Jennifer Grey
Johnny Depp has always been a rebel of sorts, first displayed in his early days on 21 Jump Street. He always seems to attract roles where he is against the norm, as in Edward Scissorhands and the Pirates series. Jennifer Grey played more of the all American girl type in Ferris Bueler's Day Off and Dirty Dancing. But off-screen, these two found romance, and at one point, were even engaged. Whatever it was that attracted this unlikely pair died pretty quickly, as their romance only lasted less than a year. Depp can't seem to get it right, having been in several relationships with a variety of notable Hollywood actresses, including Sherilyn Fenn, Winona Ryder, Juliette Lewis, Ellen Barkin, Kate Moss, and Amber Heard, which ended in an ugly divorce. Grey has been married to Clark Gregg for more than 16 years.
2 Diane Keaton And Keanu Reeves Had December-May Romance
It's kind of a funny story really. First, Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves met on the set of a movie called Something's Gotta Give. In the movie, he plays a young doctor who becomes smitten with Diane Keaton's character. And then bam! In real life, he drops his girlfriend, Lynn Collins, to be with Keaton. And guess what? Keaton was 59 to Reeves' 40 at the time… almost just like in the movie. Wait. There's more funny stuff. Turns out Reeves didn't know how old Keaton really was… the story goes that Jack Nicholson, who co-starred in Something's Gotta Give, told Reeves that Keaton was only in her 30s, and he believed it. Not long after Reeves supposedly found out Keaton was almost 60, he broke it off. Dude has never married and Keaton reportedly remains single as well. Maybe that May-December romance wasn't such a bad idea after all.
1 Brigitte Nielsen And Flavor Flav: A True Odd Couple
She was a statuesque European model. He was a rap group's frontman who was a funny little Black man with a penchant for gold teeth and clocks worn around his neck. But they became a couple, and on national TV with their own reality show as well. Bridgett Nielsen and Flavor Flav of Public Enemy were about as different from each other as any couple in the bizarre history of celebrity dating. Yet they seemed genuinely interested in each other, going so far at one point to meet each other's families. The odd couple even married for a brief time in 2005, and actually divorced that same year. No children came out of the coupling, but he has a total of seven kids, and she has four.
