15 Seemingly Perfect Celeb Couples Destined For Divorce
Hollywood is known for its' stars and their famous pregnancies, immaculate weddings, and messy divorces. There are some couples, like Kim Kardashian and her short-term hubby (basketball player Kris Humphries), who don't really surprise us when they break up. Then, there are famous stars who break our hearts in two when they announce their separation (looking at you Anna Faris and Chris Pratt). The end result is the same: lots of speculation as to why, rumors swirling for months afterward, and usually no one knows what really happened until years later, maybe revealed in a tell-all book (hey Andi Dorfman) or a sit-down interview.
Below we review fifteen couples who are currently still married, but who we also feel are probably destined to break up for several reasons. Regardless, we know that, no matter what, we will be watching, waiting and wondering… until that fateful announcement is made public.
15 Jenifer Anniston and Justin Theroux: Can She Come Back From Heartbreak?
My love for Jennifer Anniston knows no bounds, especially after her ten-year stint as Rachel Green on the hit sitcom Friends. After the show ended, she became the most successful out of all six actors/actresses on the show, starring in popular and critically-acclaimed films for the last twelve years. We all watched many years ago as her heartbreak played out publically when her famous husband, Brad Pitt, walked away from their marriage to shack up with his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star, Angelina Jolie. The world picked sides and Anniston became the Hollywood starlet everyone was rooting for! That's why, in 2011, the whole world rejoiced when she began dating her Wanderlust co-star, Justin Theroux. The two became engaged in 2012 and got married in 2015. However, many of us still question how she ever got over that devastating breakup with Pitt, leaving us to wonder if she could ever really trust and love again. The doubt will surround them for many years to come, but here is to hoping Anniston has finally found a forever love.
14 Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively: Will Hollywood's Power Couple Make It?
Both Reynolds and Lively are known for dating other A-list celebrities. Reynolds was engaged to Alanis Morissette until early 2007 when he began dating Scarlett Johansson. These two got married just over a year later before officially separating in late 2010. On the other hand, Lively has been linked to stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Gosling, and Gossip Girl costar Penn Badgley. These two finally got together in late 2011, tying the knot in 2012 at a lavish wedding on Boone Plantation in North Carolina. They have welcomed two daughters since then and are actually known as Hollywood's hottest and most flawless power couple. However, with Reynolds' dating history and quick action to get engaged, it makes many wonder if he can actually stay happy in an engagement and marriage. Furthermore, as most stars deal with, these two have very successful careers to balance along with their family and relationship, so who is to say this relationship won't falter under yet another case of busy and hectic schedules? Only time will tell if this perfect couple falls prey to Hollywood's wicked ways.
13 Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag: Hungry for Fame
Let's go back to The Hills for just one moment and remind ourselves that Pratt started a rumor about the show's good-hearted starlet just to stir up some drama. That should set the stage for the type of person that one-half of this fame-hungry duo is. During their time on the show, Pratt and Montag repeatedly got into fights, with Pratt treating Montag less than stellar in several instances. When she told him she could be pregnant, he literally kicked her out of the car! After the show ended, they did anything they could to stay in the spotlight, with Montag even attempting to start a career in singing (it didn't go too well, as you could have guessed). They just welcomed a baby boy in early October, but this duo started out tumultuous and is sure to end that way, too. Let's give it two years?
12 David and Victoria Beckham: All Grown Up
At the young age of 20 years old, Victoria Adams burst onto the entertainment scene as Posh Spice, one-fifth of the popular musical group, the Spice Girls, with 'Wannabe' heading straight to number one on the charts. Three years later, she met David Beckham, a famous soccer player from the UK. Just two years later, the couple exchanged vows in Ireland, and quickly became a power couple overnight. They have since had four children, the oldest being eighteen and the youngest being just six years old. But, as their children grow older and eventually create their own lives, Posh and Becks will soon be empty nesters, which most of us know can cause a complete change in a relationship once you realize you don't have that much in common anymore. They still have many years until their youngest daughter is grown up and out of the house, but one day this flame will be put out.
11 Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes: On, Off, And Maybe Too Different
These two are yet another couple on our list that broke up just to get back together, get married, and have a family. They are also one of many Hollywood couples to continuously fight the divorce rumor mill. The two met on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011. They called it quits in late 2014, however, due to the fact that they enjoyed different lifestyles. Gosling preferred staying out of the spotlight, leading a quiet life, while Mendes much preferred the glitz and the glamour of Hollywood. They got back together not long after, though, and before long Mendes was pregnant with their first child. Since then, they have welcomed two daughters and secretly exchanged vows in early 2016, with most of the world not finding out until months later. It sounds like a perfect Hollywood romance, but we know that many things can happen behind closed doors, and I'm sure for this on/off couple it is no different.
10 Kim Kardashian and Kanye West: Serial Dating Is A Crime
We can't forget Kardashian's infamous 72-day marriage to basketball star Kris Humphries. Many of us watched as it fell apart before our eyes, even after their expensive and lavish wedding in 2011. Before this, she was married to a music producer before divorcing four years later and dated rapper Ray J and made a sex tape that would eventually go public. She has also been linked to Nick Lachey, Nick Cannon, The Game, Reggie Bush, Marques Houston, and Miles Austin, only dating each for no more than a few months. Clearly, her dating history highlights her complete lack of ability to be in a healthy and long-term relationship and, even though West is known for being in more serious relationships, their love indeed will be just temporary due to Kardashian's promiscuous ways of serial dating. But, maybe the birth of her two children will change her dating/marriage style for good.
9 Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith: An Open Marriage?
In early 2017, Jada Pinkett-Smith made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live and addressed rumors about her long marriage to actor Will Smith. Despite much speculation, her and Smith are not swingers, however in response to this question she replied with a comedic "I wish!" which just continued the spinning of the rumor mill. Do you wish you had an open marriage because you are bored? Do you wish you were a swinger because you are unhappy? The couple has been married for 23 years, with their kids virtually grown up and in the spotlight for their own reasons now. Couples are known to break up even after many years of marriage and happiness. This, combined with Jada's comment this summer, may prove to be the beginning of the end for this couple.
8 Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos: Pet Peeves and Cheating Rumors
Yet another couple who has fought the rumor mill with speculation of drama and divorce for many years. Ripa and Consuelos have been together for 21 years, having eloped after only a year of dating. They have three beautiful children and very successful careers. However, in a short interview with People in 2013, Ripa shined some light on a few shortcomings of their relationship. She discussed her biggest pet peeves of living with Mark, including how he can never put the toilet seat back down. Her exact words were: "I don't think you get passed the little pet peeves." She went on to say that it is okay to fight sometimes, that it simply isn't the end of the world to get irritated at one another. But some still wonder if the little pet peeves are a cover for something bigger. In addition to this, Ripa is known for getting a little too close to a lot of her male friends in the industry, even sparking cheating rumors occasionally. It's really no wonder these two are constantly swirling in the rumor mill.
7 Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi: Boredom and Busyness
DeGeneres and De Rossi married in 2008 after four years of dating. Since then, there have been constant rumors about a looming divorce for the couple. Despite this, they have both shot down these rumors again and again. However, there are two factors that may eventually stop the love for this couple. First, they both have intense, hectic schedules due to their separate careers. When both halves of a whole are in the entertainment industry, it is crucial to make time for each other. Otherwise, the relationship is doomed. Secondly, even after being married for almost ten years, the couple still has no plans to have children. Having kids aren't for everyone, but the question now is if these two will grow bored with each other. No kids, boredom, and a lack of time spent together? Sounds like a bad recipe for a disastrous divorce. Only time will tell!
6 Beyoncé and Jay-Z: Elevator Excitement
Ever since the highly publicized elevator incident between Beyoncé's little sister, Solange, and Jay-Z, many have wondered if these two were on the outs. Many rumors over the years have speculated that Jay-Z cheated on Queen Bey. In 2014, he was accused of having an affair with singer, Mya, although she denied those allegations. Then, not long after, footage of Jay-Z and Solange Knowles was released. The two were in an elevator after the Met Gala when Solange started kicking and hitting her famous brother-in-law. This was believed to be because of another case of infidelity on Jay-Z's behalf, this time with Rachel Roy, a fashion designer. The family released a statement days later, simply stating that it was just a family spat and nothing more. In 2016, another rumor started up that revealed an affair between singer Rita Ora and Jay-Z. This was pure speculation after Beyoncé's release of Lemonade, but I think there will always be a question of whether or not he cheated-- and whether or not Bey will leave him, maybe taking Blue Ivy and the twins with her.
5 Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo: Models and Marriage
These two have had a whirlwind courtship in the five years they have known each other. After Levine ended things with his former Victoria's Secret model girlfriend, Anne Vyalitsyna, he and Prinsloo were photographed getting cozy in Hawaii in the summer of 2012. Less than a year later, however, the two had ended things. Levine quickly moved on with Nina Agdal, yet another famous model. (Is anyone else seeing a pattern here?) Not long after though, in July of 2013, Prinsloo and Levine reunited and got engaged! The summer seems to be an important time for the pair because a year later on July 19, 2014, the two exchanged vows in Mexico, finally sealing the deal after their whirlwind romance. They have had one daughter since then and have another child on the way, but an interview in late 2013 may give insight into these two and their impending fate. Levine open discussed on The Tonight Show how he didn't believe in marriage. It is hard to believe someone who always said he would "never" get married would go on to have a successful and long marriage. This, coupled with their on-again and off-again ways, doesn't make for a great foundation.
4 Russell Wilson and Ciara: Too Busy With Football
I mean, haven't girls learned it is really hard to date an NFL player yet? Wilson burst on to the sports scene as the quarterback to the Seattle Seahawks. He is famous for surprising the defense with bursts of energy, running to secure a first down or gain yardage by ducking and avoiding players trying to pull him down. He began a romance with singer Ciara in the spring of 2015 with a source saying it was "constant laughter and fun" for the new couple. A little over a year later, they got married in England and, in late 2016, they announced that Ciara was pregnant! It's funny to think just three years ago, these two didn't even know each other. Despite their whirlwind romance, the couple could have some trouble in the future, however, Wilson's intense schedule for football could mean trouble for the duo. In fact, many NFL stars are not even around to see the birth of their child or baby's first steps! Here's to hoping that Ciara doesn't resent Wilson for making her a part-time single mother.
3 Kate Mara and Jamie Bell: Actress Roulette and Busy Schedules
Jamie Bell, known for his roles in King Kong, Jumper, and Fantastic Four, married Kate Mara in the summer of 2017 after two years of dating. Before his marriage to Mara, Bell dated another actress, Evan Rachel Wood for eight years before tying the knot in 2012. They welcomed a son together before calling it quits in 2014, after only two years of marriage. Was it because they were young? Bell was only 18 when they first dated, with Wood being just 16 at the time! Whatever the case, hopefully it is different for these two stars. However, with both being young and budding actors, will their hectic and separate schedules affect the quality of their relationship? Mara is known to have serious and long-term relationships, but only time will tell if these two will make it for the long haul.
2 Erin Andrews and Jarett Stoll: Selfish Sports Anchor
There was only one tidbit I needed to know in order to doubt the relationship between these two, however, there are actually a few that are worth noting. Andrews and Stoll began dating in 2012. However, they were forced into the spotlight, quite negatively, when Stoll, a former athlete, was arrest for cocaine possession in Las Vegas in 2015. This didn't deter the two, however, and they got married in the summer of 2017 on Stoll's 35th birthday. Is it just me or does that boast a little bit of selfishness from the co-host of Dancing with the Stars? We all know the bride usually has most of the say when planning a wedding, and what loving fiancée would decide to have her wedding on the same day as her husband's 35th birthday?! This shows major red flags, as does the drug arrest a few years back. Plus, Andrews is at the peak of her career right now, taping her hosting duties in L.A. on Mondays and flying around the country to report on games for the current NFL season. But, even though they have been together for a long time, the question is how long these two will last with the pair's other personal problems.
1 Bill Clinton and Hilary Rodham Clinton: White House Affairs and Mocha Cake
Bill and Hilary Clinton were a power couple in politics that worked their way up to the White House. While here, however, the world watched as the news of an extramarital affair on the President's behalf unfolded in early 1998. The affair began in 1995 with an intern, Monica Lewinsky, who will forever be a household name. Many staff would recount in the coming years how difficult it was for Mrs. Clinton to deal with. The pastry chef would frequently make her mocha cakes, her favorite dessert, as a way to cope. An usher of the White House would allow her to spend her days at the pool basking in the sunshine, surely avoiding any drama surrounding the affair. Regardless, they stood by each other's side, even through Hilary's run for President in 2016. But trust can surely never be restored after a media-frenzied affair like this and it is only a matter of time before they break under the pressure.
