10 Celebs Who Rocked The 2018 Grammys And 10 Who Looked Like Grammies
Awards season is one of the most wonderful times of the year. We get to see all of our favorite celebrities out and about, hoping that they will beat each other out for the most prestigious awards. Of all the awards shows, one that is the most viewer-friendly is The Grammys. For many people, these are artists, songs and albums that they listen to on the radio or on their playlist. The anticipation builds as everyone waits to find out if their favorite song won the award. There are also live musical performances that rock our worlds.
Just as great as the music, we get to see our favorite artists all dolled up. When fashion and music meet, it is an artistic movement in itself. Sometimes, artists completely ace their looks, while other times we are left wondering if their wardrobe person gets fired the next day. This is a huge event with millions of people watching and tweeting. Getting a buzz going about their look can help the artist gain some more attention. The looks from The 60th Annual Grammys have us still talking. Let us look at the good, the bad and the not-so-pretty of these fashion statements.
20 Rocked The Grammys: Lady Gaga Was Born This Way
Lady Gaga is known for giving some memorable looks on the red carpet. This year, she was absolutely stunning on the red carpet in a black and nude gown. The skirt of the gown had a deep split up the front, revealing that Ms. Gaga was wearing a lace bodysuit under the skirt.
This popstar had her team spread her skirt out on the carpet, showing that it was about four times the length it looked. The top had long sleeves that flattered Gaga's body. She wore her hair back in Game of Thrones styled braids with black pins creating a corset effect on it. The thick eyeliner on her eyes made her look like the most glamorous villain in history. There was no part of this look that could have been improved.
19 Rocked The Grammys: Reba McEntire Is An Ageless Beauty
Country singer and funny lady Reba McEntire showed up on the red carpet looking classy and stunning. Her gown featured an hourglass shape and was made entirely of silver sparkles that looked almost chain-linked, with black color-blocking panels on the side. She looked incredibly slim and youthful in this dress by Jovani. The sleeveless gown showed off her toned arms.
She accessorized this gown with simple silver hoop earrings with her vibrant red hair being the centerpiece of her ensemble. This 62-year-old hit maker was keeping up with the stars of today. It is clear that her years in the spotlight have helped her learn to dress not only for the occasion but for her body. She was certainly surviving this red carpet. This was certainly a timeless look.
18 Rocked The Grammys: Eve Stole The Night
Rapper Eve showed up on the red carpet in a gorgeous pantsuit. This black ensemble was lined with silver pinstriping that changed directions at the end of the pants and the edges of the jacket. The pants elongated Eve's petite body. This Naeem Kham ensemble made Eve look like the head woman in charge.
This boss lady does not have to wear a collared shirt under her suit. She goes for no shirt instead. Her pawprint tattoos were put on display. She accessorized this outfit with a gorgeous, thick diamond necklace and a black handbag. This look turns heads and makes people bow down, while also highlighting how gorgeous she truly is. This was an absolutely perfect look to accompany her white rose for the “Time's Up” movement.
17 Rocked The Grammys: Hailee Steinfeld Was Pitch Perfect In Her Outfit
Hailee Steinfeld is still in her early twenties, but she has already taken the world of music and movies by storm. This gorgeous young woman stunned on the red carpet in a solid white, strapless dress.
This dress featured hip-level pockets to bring some dimension to it. It showed off her gorgeous looks by accenting with something from the '90s blue eyeshadow. This eyeshadow was there to accompany her purple knee-high, metallic boots. It was a statement and a risk all at once, but she made it work nicely.
We would love to see a '90s comeback in fashion, so maybe Hailee will be starting the next trend. She was a little bit of Spice Girls and a little bit of the '90s single pop divas all in one on Grammys night.
16 Rocked The Grammys: Camila Cabello Brought Cuban Spice To The Carpet
Former girl group member Camila Cabello showed that she can hold it down all on her own. This young pop star, who recently branched out on her own, rocked the red carpet in a crimson satiny gown. The fit of this dress flattered Camila's petite body and turned her into Jessica Rabbit.
The plunging neckline was a little risqué for what we have come to expect from Cabello, but she came to stun. The dress was fitted to the bottom, where it flared out almost like a trumpet gown. Ruffles accented her hips, adding some Latin flair to this spicy dress. She accented her dress with a silver mirrorball-style handbag that made the outfit playful. Strategic ruching and seams give Cabello a fuller figure, appealing to her new target demographic.
15 Rocked The Grammys: Lana Del Rey Is A Hippie Dream
Lana Del Rey is known for her free spirit and hippie-like personality. Her songs invoke feelings of nostalgia and remind many people of something that would be heard during a psychedelic experience. For this year's Grammys, Del Rey toned down her look.
Her Gucci gown featured flowy, three-quarter length sleeves, a loose v-neckline and a free-flowing skirt. This nude-colored gown featured silver accents in the form of stars from the arms to the train of the gown.
She was a subdued hippie goddess on the red carpet. Lana left her hair natural and down and focused primarily on her eye makeup. She accessorized her gown with a long, silver necklace that pulled the outfit together. This is a calm look for the red carpet, but it is so captivating.
14 Rocked The Grammys: Janelle Monae Took The Bull By The Horns
Janelle Monae is a highly fashionable and very talented musician. She is known for wearing incredible fitted suits, not conforming to the expectations that awards show and society have put on women. This year's Grammys was no exception, but Monae looked flawless as always. Miss Monae wore a suit, in her typical form.
This suit featured appliques and embellishments along the seams of the pants and the jacket, as well as down the bust of the jacket. Hello, '90s! These designs were flowers in all different colors. The suit had wide-legged pants and a waist-cinching corset-like jacket, making her resemble a fabulous matador. She wore a white button-up top underneath with a black bow tie to bring the look all together. Her slicked back hair made her outfit the focus of her look.
13 Rocked The Grammys: Maren Morris Is More Than Country
Country star Maren Morris shocked viewers with her Grammys ensemble. Instead of playing it safe, Maren Morris took major fashion risks with her gown. This champagne-colored dress was completely covered with sparkles and featured more cut-outs than fabric.
The dress was strategically cut to cover up her bits and pieces in a triangular point in the front and back. There was a cold shoulder top, cut-outs in the abdomen and then cut-outs all through the arms and from hip level to the floor. It gave the entire piece a lacy appearance.
The color of this dress complimented her skin and hair tones while the cut-outs really showed off her shape. Due to the sparkly nature of the dress, Morris only wore simplistic earrings with this outfit. She looked incredible, even with minimal makeup.
12 Rocked The Grammys: Rita Ora Showed A Little Leg
Rita Ora is a triple threat-actress, singer, and model. She shows a lot of personality in all of these mediums. Of all of the top ten, her outfit is probably the most plain, but it is absolutely stunning. This black gown is completely asymmetric.
One side of Ora's dress features a high collar and sleeve, reminiscent of a queen's neckline from the 1800s. Following the crystals down the side of her dress, a large diagonal cut reveals Ora's entire left leg.
With Rita Ora's shape, she could be competing with Camila Cabello for a real-life Jessica Rabbit. Ora accessorized this dress with black pumps and slick-backed hair that was loose in the back. Ora knocked it out of the park with this look and showed she can wear anything.
11 Rocked The Grammys: John Legend Is All We Need
John Legend is one of the classiest men of Hollywood. He, of course, is married to model Chrissy Teigen. He has recorded some of the most romantic songs of today as well as some of the most political songs. These songs have been featured in movies, on awards shows and even on the radio.
John Legend's suit was black and navy with a satin-like finish. The suit jacket appeared to be navy blue in some light, but it looked incredible with the black skinny dress pants that accompanied it. There was also a small black bow tie to accompany the outfit that highlights the accents on the jacket. Legend looked incredibly put together and as though he was a member of royalty. We cannot picture John not wearing a suit, to be honest.
10 Worst Dressed: Pink Ruffled Our Feathers
Pink is one of our favorite artists. Her music is incredible and her “don't mess with me” attitude is one we wish we could take on. One thing we do not want from her is this pink, blue and purple feathery monstrosity.
Not only did it look like she had a bad run-in with a Muppet, but it was not flattering at all. Pink is super fit and can hang from silks as she is performing, but this dress made her look pregnant.
The belt she had on cinched the dress in a weird place, a little too high on her body. There were no accessories to distract us from this Big Bird disaster. Even her hair was slicked down and plain compared to what we know her for. This entire outfit was confusing.
9 Worst Dressed: Diane Warren Got Into A Cat Fight
Where to start with this outfit. Considering the nature of the event, Diane Warren was very dressed down for music's biggest night. As a long-time songwriter, she knows what is expected on the red carpet. Instead of a nice pantsuit or a gown, Diane decided to wear a shirt with an alien cat on it.
We are sure it was probably some sort of political statement, but it just seemed completely unprofessional. Not only did she wear a t-shirt, but she also wore fingerless gloves with cartoons on them. This all was accompanied by a two-inch thick choker. These elements distract from the fact that Miss Warren is wearing a pin-striped suit for the remainder of her outfit. It is just made so casual by these elements. We want more.
8 Worst Dressed: Emmylou Harris Looks Like a Great-Grandmother
Country star Emmylou Harris looked like a true Grammy in this outfit. While there are obviously several different elements to this outfit, we cannot tell where one starts and another ends. It looks like a black dress with gold embellishments on the bodice and a multi-tiered skirt. On top of this was a cardigan-styled cover up with different gold and champagne designs all over it.
The outfit was shapeless, aging Emmylou further beyond her years and making it appear as though she just rolled out of bed. The boots that she wore with the dress also had gold embellishments on them. This outfit was all over the place and very mismatched, despite having elements in the same color scheme. This is one look that we want to forget, but just cannot.
7 Worst Dressed: Sarah Silverman's Gothic Turn
Comedienne Sarah Silverman showed up on the red carpet resembling Harry Potter's infamous villain, Bellatrix LeStrange. Silverman wore a black baby doll dress. This dress looked like a black version of the dress that the twins in The Shining wore. She accompanied this with black fishnet tights and black booties.
If that was not bad enough, she wore this with her hair in messy curls that was heavily teased, much like Helena Bonham Carter's character. To confuse everyone further, she wore a double pearl necklace with this travesty of an outfit. There are so many different ways that she could have worn different elements of this outfit to the Grammys, it just did not all work together. It was a very dark look for this show, and not in a way that makes an impactful statement.
6 Worst Dressed: Oh My Kimberly Schlapman
Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman looks like one-half of the stepsisters from Cinderella. This country singer wore a mauve-colored dress that has a lot going on. The straps on the shoulders were ruffled while the body of the dress was multi-tiered and crimped.
On top of all of these textures, the bodice was reminiscent of lingerie and different parts of the skirt featured dark purple embellishments. There is too much going on with this outfit and it is a little too revealing. We are not even sure that this would look nice on a young model, although we are not ageist. The clutch she had did not even match the dress, it was plain black. This dress should have stayed on the rack that it came from.
5 Worst Dressed: Karen Fairchild Was Not Much Better
The other half of the stepsisters is also from Little Big Town. Karen Fairchild did not luck out in the fashion department at this year's Grammys, either. Fairchild wore a dress that was entirely made of off-white feathers. This included the three-quarter length sleeves down to the small train on the dress.
There is an emu somewhere running around without any feathers. Karen Fairchild's dress had some bejeweled elements to it, but those were primarily around the arms and the abdominal region.
The feathers are a little sparse in areas, although it does not look intentional. Some parts of the sheer layer of the gown can be seen more than others, making it look like her feathers were starting to fall out, too. Her clutch matched the stones on her dress, which was her only saving grace.
4 Worst Dressed: Kelly Clarkson's Outfit Needs To Breakaway
Kelly Clarkson won over our hearts as the first winner of American Idol. She quickly became one of America's sweethearts. Over the years, she has dabbled in different genres of music and even in duets. Her style has also varied over the years. 2018 is not one of her highest years to start off, as demonstrated by her Grammys dress.
Clarkson was very covered up in her long-sleeved, scoop-neck dress. The dress featured over one-foot-long fringe on the arms. The black gown had gold accents from the shoulders to the abdomen and even when it touched the ground. The abdominal embellishments were cut off by an oddly placed black belt that made the outfit seem like it was cutting Kelly in the wrong places. Just take a chance and breakaway, Kelly!
3 Worst Dressed: Cardi B's Outfit Had No Finesse
Cardi B is one of the best female rappers to bless 2018. Everything she does and says is completely shocking and can take people back. Her Grammy outfit did this, but not in the way that many of her fans would have hoped.
Cardi B looked like the Tooth Fairy gone wrong. This white, puffy mini dress with a long train just does not work. It especially does not compliment her personality. There were some feathery elements to this dress, which no one can successfully pull off. Her white pointed-toe pumps also did not fit her, especially with the little jewels on them. T
This outfit was all wrong. There was nothing spectacular about this, except for how bad it was. It does not look natural on her and screams fifth birthday party more than Grammy Awards.
2 Worst Dressed: Jenny McCarthy Made Us Blue
Jenny McCarthy has a larger than life personality and an opinion to match. When she stepped on to the red carpet for the Grammys, she was unrecognizable. Her long blonde hair has been chopped and colored a shade of blue that would fit a smurf. She debuted this new style with a skin-tight, floor-length leather dress with an illusion neckline. Somehow, the dress gave off a glittery look, too.
Not only did she wear a leather, sparkly gown, but she accompanied it with short black leather gloves. We are all for leather, but only when it is done tastefully. This dress did nothing for this former Playboy's body. Jenny may have been going for a spy look with the full leather outfit and sunglasses indoors, but this is something we would rather camouflage.
1 Worst Dressed: Jaden Smith Is At It, Again
Jaden Smith, the son of Fresh Prince Will Smith, is known for having a unique personality. His parents have always encouraged him to pursue his interests and to become his own person. This includes his unique sense of fashion. To the formal awards show, Smith wore a winter jacket that was patched with a large quote patch and neon patches.
He also wore denim pants that were completely destroyed, requiring about seven different patches to make up the remainder of the pants. These were completely mismatched. The only consistency between the jacket and pants are the “Raw” patches on them. Jaden accompanied this look with dirty sneakers, which is a huge no-no at awards shows. He also wore a gold chain necklace with his newly platinum blonde hair. This look was too casual for Hollywood.
