Do you know the signs of a needy man? It starts with someone who needs you way more than you could ever need them. A guy is supposed to be fearless!

Every girl wants to have a guy in their life who “needs” them. But, there are different degrees of needing someone. We want someone who looks to us for support when things get rough, for unconditional love when they most need it, and for advice when they have tough crossroads to hurdle. But, those are not signs of a needy man! That is just natural human need.

A needy man is different. It isn't that he needs us to be his confidante, pick me up, or even his vixen in bed. He needs us to function, operate, and survive. That can be extremely overwhelming and smothering. So, what is the difference between a guy who needs you and a needy man?

#1 He doesn't know how to operate a washing machine. A needy guy goes straight from mom's house to yours and never learns the basics in life like how to run the dishwasher, the washing machine, or how to stock the refrigerator.

#2 He can't do anything on his own, like anything. He literally can't do anything without an escort at his side.

#3 He whines about you going out all the time. He absolutely hates “girl's night.” He wants you all to himself day and night and night and day…

#4 He wants to be with you every waking moment. His favorite phrase is “No, don't go, just stay.”

#5 He is like an octopus or bad prom date. The thought that PDA isn't cool or attractive is lost on him. After being around him, you feel like you warded off a bad prom date for the evening.

#6 He can't make a decision without consultation. “What do you think?” is the answer to any decision he has to make on his own.

#7 He asks you how to make a microwave dinner while holding the instructions in his hands. Needy guys can't go through the trouble of figuring things out on their own. That is what you are there for.

#8 He loves his mommy way too much. Needy guys learn their neediness from an overbearing mommy. She isn't giving up, ever!

#9 He wants the world to stop when he is sick, because he is dying, don't you know? I get the “man flu” thing. The needy guy wants you to take off of work, sit at his side, and deliver liquids to keep him hydrated all day.

#10 He likes the crusts cut off his sandwiches. No rough edges for the guy who needs your pampering nature at his side to cut the crusts off.

#11 He sits too close, all the time. You feel like you can't ever have a moment alone. Like a piece of Velcro, there he is like white on rice.

#12 He doesn't have any guy friends, he would rather be with you. A needy guy can't get his needs met with a bromance or a BFF, you are all that matters.

#13 He wants to hold your hand no matter where you go. Nope, don't leave his side. He's got you by the fingers… Oh, and you best not cup, it is finger weaving all the way! 

#14 He constantly wants to know where you are and where you are going. You need to recount all you did throughout the day. He doesn't want to miss out on a single moment of “you.”

#15 He blows up your phone from the time you leave until the minute you are back together. Love you more…

#16 He doesn't know his own clothing or shoe size. He hasn't ever had to learn what pant or shoe size he wears. Someone else takes care of dressing and buying clothes for him.

#17 He wants to join you everywhere you go. Makes no difference if it is the mall or the salon. He doesn't understand that there are couple boundaries and things that you just don't do together.

#18 You lay out his clothes for him because he can't seem to match. He didn't ever learn that you don't wear stripes with polka dots. That is useless information someone else has always taken care of.

#19 He wants you to make his lunch for work. He waits by the door for his kiss before work and his paper sack lunch prepared just the way he likes it.

#20 He has no opinion of his own, his is yours, period. “I don't know, what do you want to do?” say the signs of a needy man!

#21 He can't pay his own bills. I mean he can afford them, he just can't “pay” them. Paying bills are an inconvenience. Someone else needs to take care of that shit for him.

#22 He won't go to the grocery store unless you come along. If it weren't for you stocking the refrigerator, he'd literally starve.

#23 He needs you to make a budget for him, because he can't possibly manage his own money. You pay him an allowance like a child. There is no way he figures out a budget on his own.

#24 You remind him of basic things like “Did you brush your teeth this morning?” You feel more like his mom than his girlfriend! Basic needs are lost on the needy guy.

#25 You would leave a five-year-old home alone before you would him. The minute you leave him, he texts you asking about how to survive until you get back, so you take him with you.

#26 He usually doesn't recognize his mess, but is waiting for the maid to come pick it up when he does. The needy guy sits in his own shit forever or waits until someone else cleans it up, or not, makes no difference.

Having a guy who loves your every move and can't get enough of you is alluring at first. But, after a while, it just becomes, well, irritating. Being needy is not about being in a relationship it is about being insecure and not able to do things for, or by, himself.

The best relationships are the ones where people rely on and like each other, not need each other to survive. If you see these signs of a needy man, remember the only thing he grows on is your last nerve.
