15 Reasons Why Getting Dumped Has A Silver Lining

Being dumped by the guy you thought would be there with you forever is hard to swallow. Thinking he would be there by your side for the rest of your life, is tough. It's sad, hard, and depressing, honestly.

But there is good news! Getting dumped really does have a silver lining. Nowadays when things around the world are so negative it's very easy to simply look at the bad and not focus on anything good. It's like we're programmed to just ignore the positive and focus on waiting for the next thing to go wrong. We need to learn together that we can overcome and focus on the good in this world, what better time to do so when we have so much more free time! Being dumped can actually be turned into a time where you finally have time to learn how to care for yourself again. You'll have time to have all the lazy days you want and even wear comfortable clothes without having to worry about your bloating!

Being able to start over and be okay with the time between falling in love again, will make you fall in love with yourself and that's honestly what's most important. We need to fully love ourselves before we ever even think about having a long term relationship. Just take what you've learned and apply that to your life, use your experiences to push you forward to new ones and you'll learn more about yourself than ever before! #SingleLife can be a beautiful thing!

    15 Starting Fresh

Being able to start fresh is like being reborn! You have ample time to figure out where you want to go and how you want to get there. The biggest silver lining anyone probably feels when they get dumped is the freedom of being able to fully be themselves. It's just important to remember to not let it get to your head like some people. People who take it to the extreme and start becoming completely lazy and letting their emotions get the best of them. I think it's best for everyone to take the time they need to get back on their feet, but you should also be looking forward to the future you're going to work towards yourself. That alone should make you feel like a strong and amazing woman because of how much you've been able to overcome! Don't let anything get you down, you can do it!

    14 Puppy!

If your now ex-partner didn't like certain things like animals or even how much you watched cute animal videos on Youtube. Now you have the freedom to get a pup of your own! It's a huge responsibility, but now you'll have the time and attention to give it so it'll be easier to manage with your unique lifestyle. This could be anything your ex didn't really approve of, any kind of pet or hobby, you name it! You can have time to fill your life with things that make you a happier and better person. Regardless of what it may be that you want to have in your life, just remember to bring in new things with moderation. When we go through a rough time, it's very easy to make decisions that aren't the best in the long run. So instead of buying 10 puppies, maybe just stick to one! (To start with)

    13 Food

Now you don't have to wait until your partner goes to work to be able to have that second serving of eggs for breakfast AND you can add as much ketchup as you want, judgment free! If your partner had a problem with how you ate or what you ate and you have reasonably good eating habits, then there was a huge problem there and now you won't have to worry about hearing all the bickering when you go for seconds. Like I mentioned above, it's great to be able to focus on moderation even when you're emotional, but being able to do that yourself without someone telling you how you should do something the whole time is a great stress relief. So go for that burrito on a weeknight, you deserve it and no one can tell you any different! Just take care of yourself and eat what you want in moderation!

    12 Independence

Having your independence back after being in a relationship is one of the most refreshing feelings you can possibly feel. Having your independence back gives you more time than you know, it gives you time to find who you really are, what really makes you happy again. While things might be quite different than when it was the last time you were single, you've grown and it's time to find what makes you happy now. Focus on you because it isn't selfish, you deserve to have time dedicated to you, so you can heal and move on with your head held high. Go spend a day at the beach or take a road trip with yourself and your closest friends, explore the world around you and the people who are there with you through thick and thin. You'll all grow up and expand your mind, there's no greater gift than that.

    11 PJs All Day!

Honestly, what's better than staying in with a warm mug of hot cocoa keeping your hands warm and snuggling up in your softest pajamas! Being able to spend all day in your pajamas and not having to worry about doing your hair and makeup is the best thing in the world. Spend a day working in your PJs and you'll know I'm right! You know what's even better? Splurging on a cute pair of comfy PJs that you've been wanting for quite a while and going home to slip into them and have a comfortable day while you go on about your business! Pull up your hair in a messy bun, you don't even have to worry about brushing it, leave that for another day! Plus this is a great first step in the right direction of self-love and acceptance! So put on those cozy sweats and those fluffy house shoes and you'll be feeling better in no time.

    10 Lazy Days

Setting aside a day where you don't have to focus on work or cleaning the house and even dedicating time to your partner is honestly a relief when you're constantly under stress because of a million things that have piled up. This weekend I challenge you to forget the part for one day at least and schedule a day full of things that make you happy. Do something that scares you and conquer it, prove to yourself you can do anything and you can do it well. Challenge yourself to push hard and be strong despite your current emotions. Plan a day full of fun things that always make you happy such as binge watching a Netflix series or going out to your favorite cafe to get some work done. Either way, whatever it is you choose to do that day where you have complete freedom, go out there and take your life back.

    9 Your Comfortable Routine

Discover what routine helps you be the best you can be. Sitting down one afternoon and making the atmosphere cozy in your home while you have a fresh planner and pen is a great way to start working towards finding what routine helps you the most. Being able to find a lifestyle that fits how you want to experience life is a great and reassuring way you can move forward in a positive direction. It's okay to focus on yourself and plan your life around yourself when you don't have a two person dynamic you have to account for anymore. Also being able to plan ahead and seeing it all written out in front of you is a great way you can feel that reassurance you desperately need in a moment as emotional as a breakup. You'll be able to see that you'll be there for yourself and that's important.

    8 Baths

Visit Lush and get some all natural bath bombs, they are beautiful and have all kinds of amazing skin benefits to help you relax and feel great. Whether you plan a day to go out with some girlfriends and visit Lush to pick up some amazing bath bombs, or you just stay home in your PJs and order some online, it is up to you. But either way, making a spa night is the perfect way to unwind after a long day of emotional stress piled on top of work. Simply light some candles and make some snacks, turn on your favorite Netflix program and you will be relaxed within minutes. This might even turn into a nightly habit you will not be able to shake so proceed with caution! Doing small things like this to release some of your stress buildup is so healthy for you to practice, it is a must!

    7 Everything On Your Schedule

You have the power to achieve your goals at your own pace and work on your own schedule. Like mentioned above, your planner should be your new best friend! Take those goals you've written out and you schedule and put it to action. Get up early and make the day your day! Being able to have things happen on your time frame really does eliminate some of the stress when you're stuck waiting around for people to catch up. Even if you want your life to slow down a bit, this is a perfect way to see the silver lining as well. Regardless if you want to jump start your life or calm down a bit, being able to plan your day around what you need to get done and when you want to accomplish those plans, nothing is better and more rewarding! There's no shame in having your schedule fit your unique lifestyle choices!

    6 Coffee at 2 AM!

    Treat yo' self!

Being able to do whatever you want is a very huge theme when we're looking at the silver lining of being dumped. This is another aspect that can be expanded on multiple things not just coffee, but honestly who hasn't wanted to have a warm cup of your favorite coffee in the wee hours of the morning?! Now you can and you don't have to listen to your partner whine about you staying up late! Throw a little party for yourself, just because it's just you doesn't mean that you have to slack on the effort put into your cup of joe, or anything else for that matter! Have a cup and watch some films, you'll feel young again when you stayed up past your bedtime!

“I like to sit down, relax, have a cup of coffee on the terrace and read a book. I like to travel the world - and I'm lucky to see so much through cycling.” Marianne Vos

5 Time To Care For Yourself

Taking care of yourself physically and emotionally is so important. Join a gym or plan some workouts at home that challenge yourself and your core. This can easily be the key to helping you relieve tension you've been feeling. If you set aside an hour a day or even just 30 minutes if it's a struggle, to exercise your core and work on simple cardio you'll feel fresh and positive. You'll have energy that will last you all day and your endorphins will be running wild! There will be no time for depression when you focus on your health and getting in shape. Not necessarily to look fit, but to feel good and remind yourself that you really are worth it. Doing it for yourself can make a world of difference when it comes to your self-esteem as well! Plus workout gear is super cute, how could you not want to go for a walk!

4 Doing What Makes You Happy!

Go out and find something new that makes you happy, find a new hobby you want to learn and push yourself to master it! I've made it a goal of mine to try to learn one thing every day, something new! Some things that I've always wanted to learn about and others that I wouldn't normally have an interest in. This could be as simple as learning basic greetings in French or even learning how to make a bomb a** espresso in the comfort of your own home! You could choose random books from the library and go through each of them little by little each day or try a new recipe that you wouldn't normally fix! Trying something new is like taking a risk, it might be scary at first even if it's something small, but when you master it and keep working hard it can be one of the best feelings in the world.

3 Go Out To Eat Anywhere

Do not worry about being by yourself, that just means you can get whatever you want, judgment free!

Now you do not have to compromise on where you want to eat, you can feel free to go anywhere you want! From McDonald's to a five-star restaurant the possibilities are endless! You can enjoy a Big Mac or a four-course meal, either way, you will be able to enjoy it all to yourself. Do not worry, you are allowed to be a little bit selfish! Just remember to indulge in moderation! Another plus is you have time for family meals again since you have a bit more of a flexible schedule it's a wonderful chance to dedicate some of that free time to your family. Head home for a family meal like the good old days, I know that's where I'd want to eat dinner every day of the week if I could!

    2 Quiet Morning Walks

One of my personal favorites, a kind of meditation that I look forward to every morning. Feeling the fresh air on my face is a perfect way to wake up in the morning. This might be small in comparison to some of the other items on this list and it might be extremely specific, but just try it and you'll understand why. Quiet morning walks are one of the most peaceful things you can do, not only is it good for your body, it also helps you wake up and energize. On those morning walks this time of year you start to notice the small things, like where the birds like to nest, the clouds, the way the sun shines on the wet grass, and the beginning of hustle and bustle in the houses you pass as everyone starts to wake up. It's a beautiful moment everyone should try to fit into their schedule when they have a moment alone. It's healing and after a hard breakup, it's perfect.

1 Learning To Love Yourself Again

The most important thing you can do to expand your experience on this earth.

Loving yourself is one of the hardest things to do. There is no textbook on how you accept yourself and work towards self-acceptance, but you do have your experiences. Our experiences shape us in ways we do not always see. Our work ethic, the way we hold ourselves, and how we feel about ourselves usually relies on the steps we take towards a more positive life. No matter what hard situations seem to fall out of the sky and onto our laps, we can get through it with the strength we have inside us. We do not need to depend on a significant other to keep our problems at bay. Learning to love yourself is without a doubt the best silver lining you could ever hope for after being dumped. Or really any time in your life. #SingleLife, yes, please!
