    15 Gifs That Perfectly Describe Your Monthly Visitor

    Being a woman is great except for one monthly occurring, terrible thing: the dreaded period. It is something that no woman can avoid (except to delay it as long as possible) and it is inevitable to appear every month. Not only is it something our bodies need to do to keep up with the natural cycle, but it is something that our bodies do not enjoy. Sure, it is a natural thing that we accept, but periods suck.

    Having your period is something awful, and during the week of your period, there are so many different things you can experience that will make the time that much worse. You have to deal with extremely weird emotions, aches, pains, and just overall a really bad week. Everything you encounter has some sort of effect on how we feel, and reading into things during this week can be expected. Not only are there crazy emotions, but it can feel as though any energy you ever had was ripped out of you and life seems bleak in these period times.

    Luckily, knowing you are not alone in this and that every other woman has experienced it is something that can comfort us in these horrible times. Women have been able to bond over their shared problems and woes all thanks to our periods. If it is your time, here are 15 gifs that perfectly describe when your period is sucking the life out of you. Hang in there, you can make it through!

    15 Cramps

    One of the worst physical side effects of having your period can be the cramps that go along with it. They feel as though someone is stabbing you and any chance of standing all day is not going to happen. You will be going about your day normally when suddenly you almost topple over because of the cramping in your uterus. Having cramps is something that every woman has experienced and has made the time during her period almost unbearable. It is the times when the cramps are bad that we wish that our society allowed women to take paid time-off to deal with these aches and pains. Unfortunately, because we still have to show up for work no matter how awful we feel, trying to grin and bear the cramps throughout the day is the only thing to get us through. This gif explains perfectly the sudden onset of cramps and how they can take us out unexpectedly!

    14 Only Chocolate Will Do

    No one really knows why chocolate is so craved by women on their period. There are studies suggesting different reasons, but why chocolate in particular? Whatever the reason, when you are on your period and it is sucking the life out of you, chocolate can be the only thing that will get you through it. If you are sitting on the couch and feeling extremely grumpy, having a piece of chocolate can be the one food item that will bring a smile to our face and temporarily ease your pain and grievances! Of course, when we say a small piece of chocolate, that is usually only the beginning. One piece becomes two pieces, which then becomes a whole bowl full of melted chocolate. No amount of chocolate that is eaten will ever be enough! Do what you can to survive, right? For women, that means eating copious amounts of chocolate and then hating ourselves about it later!

    13 When You Need a Tampon Fast

    When on your period, it is important that you are prepared for those heavy times. Suddenly you will be out at work and you will feel that you need to change out your tampon. You get to the washroom and realize that you didn't bring any extra tampons! You rush to the bathroom looking for one of those lady product-vending machines and can't find one anywhere. This is where things get urgent and you begin to find yourself getting frantic. You need a tampon fast and you will yell it out to the world to ensure you get what you need in time. Stressing over the need to find a tampon is an awful experience that goes hand-in-hand with being a woman (and having your period). It is just one more thing that will suck the life out of you and probably cause you some embarrassment in the process.

    12 Confused Emotions

    When a woman goes through her period, her body is put through a lot of hormonal changes. Hormones and emotions become a bit confusing and at times, when you should be happy, you suddenly find yourself crying. Then at other times when you should be sad, you are laughing uncontrollably. It can be exhausting trying to figure out how you feel when you are on your period, and you need to work extra hard to make sure you aren't over-reacting to what others say. It can get so confusing that you begin to question what is happening to you! When a woman's emotions are confused and all over the place, be patient with her because this is just one of the things that women have to go through. This gif perfectly describes how confused emotions are just another aspect of when your period is sucking the life out of you!

    11 Irrationally Angry

    Women are often accused of being on their period whenever they show the slightest bit of frustration or anger. It is a stereotype that women absolutely hate. But all women know the truth is that we actually do get irrationally angry on our periods. There is something about the changing hormones that make us feeling as though we are dying, therefore giving us the excuse to take out our rage on others. It may seem like a double standard to guys, but it is something they just have to endure! Yes, we can be angry and blame it on our period, but NO you cannot assume that every time we are angry that it means we are having our period. This gif perfectly explains the thoughts a man has when a woman is on her period, but being irrationally angry is just one of the wonderful things that happens when your period is sucking the life out of you!

    10 Feeling Like a Crime Scene

    *Talko Has Source*

    Periods are kind of gross if you really begin to think about it. When you are on your period, it can leave you feeling like your stomach is under attack and your lady parts are similar to a crime scene. These are the most awful parts of your period as you feel unclean and your body is aching incredibly. Luckily, it can be sometimes helped with Midol and other pain relief pills that will ease the flow and the muscle aches that go along with being a woman and having your period. You feel as though there is a crime scene in your pants and if you just lay on the floor, you might just fit the part that much more. Having your period is the worst, and feeling as though you just got murdered is just another beautiful indication that your period is sucking the life out of you!

    9 When You Sync Up with Your Girls

    It is incredible that women's periods sync up when they are together long enough. How their bodies just seem to know that it is time to be on their period at the same moment is something that has allowed us to bond as women. When both you AND your roommate are on it at the same time, battles are more likely to occur. You both are emotional, over-dramatic, and hurt all over. No one wants to leave the house to get the groceries and you are constantly finding yourselves arguing. At the same time, this can be the only source of comfort amidst the terrorizing time of month. It can be a chance for you both to sympathize with each other, share your pains and aches, and feel completely understood! Plus, you know that if you run out of tampons, your friend is sure to have some at the same time!

    8 You Want to Hide Away from Everyone

    Everyone seems to expect more of you when you are on your period. It is probably because they do not know that you are on your period and do not understand that everything is like walking through deep water while being stung by jellyfish in the uterus area. They think you are being cranky and start treating you harshly because of it. They don't understand that all you need is sympathy, a glass of wine, and some chocolate, maybe even a few nice words. Knowing that everyone will not understand, it is common to want to hide away from everyone. At work, you don't want a single person to talk to you and maybe, just maybe, if you hid under your desk, you would find the relief you need. This gif is perfect to explain those moments when you just want to hide away from everyone when your period is sucking the life out of you!

    7 No Energy

    The tasks that you normally have no problem doing suddenly seem to be sucking all of your energy. It can feel as though you are stuck in quick sand and every movement you make just takes you one step backwards. The lack of energy due to your period sucking the life out of you is leaving you less productive than you ever have been. No amount of caffeine, power naps, and energy drinks are helping you push through to the other side! You may even be considering using “no energy” as a reason to take one of your sick days. That way you can just stay home and sleep an entire day and hope it does something for you! Try your best and fight through the molasses movements and do all you can to get your stuff done! If you took a sick day every time you felt awful on your period, you'd need like six weeks of vacation a year.

    6 Tired and Impatient

    Due to the fact that you have no energy, you will also begin to feel tired. Your body is working extra hard to do the cycle, so you will feel the effects of that as well. Of course, when you are tired and did not get enough sleep, you will also find yourself becoming very impatient. These are the moments when everyone begins to walk in a wide circle around you. People know to keep your conversations to a minimum and avoid eye contact. It's okay, many of us know what it feels like to be avoided like the plague when we are on our periods. It is just another wonderful part of having your period. Try to get some extra Z's when you can and be sure to always take a deep breath before talking to someone who is getting on your nerves! Fortunately, you only have to deal with these emotions for a few days.

    5 Can't Get Comfortable

    Sweat pants are a common wardrobe choice when on your period. There is something about tight pants cutting into your stomach and pushing on your already bloated body that is very uncomfortable. Having that loose band of sweatpants can help, but the problem is that your body is still undergoing an uncomfortable experience! These are the moments where no matter how you sit on the couch or how you arrange the pillows, there is no possible way you can be comfortable. You toss and turn at nights and then begin to get frustrated that nothing that you do is helping you get cozy. Time to get out the calming teas and oils and try and force your body into thinking it can be relaxed. The more you worry about it, the worse it will get. Order in some comfort food, find your softest socks and prepare for a few more days of misery.

    4 Try Not to Let Them Know

    You may find yourself becoming impatient, angry, or any crazy emotion that people will detect. It is at these times when people instantly assume that because you are being grouchy and you are a woman, you MUST be on your period. When you are not on your period, this stereotype can be extremely frustrating. Even if you're on your period, having someone say to your face, “Looks like it might be somebody's time of month!” is annoying because it feels like your feelings are being disregarded as just a symptom of you monthly visitor. They are just trying to excuse your feelings as a thing that happens to women every month. Sure, it may be true when we are on our periods, but just because that is the case does not mean that people have the right to use that to explain away our behaviors. Trying not to let them know you are on your period, to avoid being stereotyped, is just another reason that periods suck!

    3 Stuffing Your Face

    * Talko has Source *

    Chocolate is great, but sometimes just chocolate is not enough. There are similar things that we experience when we have our period and when we are pregnant. Our hormones are out of whack and our bodies are working hard to do their thing. Therefore, we need more to eat to give us more energy, right? At least that may be what we tell ourselves most times when we get those food cravings. We run to the pantry and scour around for any type of food we can shove in our faces as fast as possible. The more savory or sweet the food is, the better! It is all we can do to not eat everything in the house and actually remember that eating McDonalds four times in one day is not healthy for us. We try hard to drink lots of water and eat fruits and vegetables, but it sometimes is just not enough. We need more food!

    2 No Control over Your Emotions

    * Talko has Source *

    Confused emotions are one thing. You are crying when you are happy, and laughing when you are sad. But confused emotions are just a part of it; there is also the fact that we have no control over them! Emotions pour freely out of us as though we are a river and the force of the current is urging us on. No matter how hard we try not to be offended that our friend teased us about having food on our face, the tears will begin to stream. Sure, we can obtain a bit of control, run away, and then let it all come out when we are in the car, but not all the time. It is times like these that people mistake our emotions for craziness and the stereotype of a woman on her period begins. Just be nice to us and go along with what our bodies are making us do!

    1 Couch Potato Syndrome

    * Talko has Source *

    We feel crappy, our backs ache, and our ovaries are putting us through torture. Life sucks right now. Because people annoy us and do not understand us, feeling like you just want to sit on a couch and veg is a guarantee. The couch is comfy, it understands how we feel, and thankfully, it is super close to the cupboard where all the chocolate is stored. The couch is our best friend! To be separated from it is awful, and we will do and say anything we can just so we can return to our one true love. What is one week on the couch per month? As long as it helps us get through this tough time, there should be no problem. Staying on the couch like Reese Witherspoon in this gif perfectly describes what it is like when our periods are sucking the life out of us. We know how you feel, Reese!
