    Emojis for flirting

Lots of people, myself included, have become accustomed to using emojis when flirting with someone. They're simple, suggestive, and fun. I find it easiest to flirt over text with someone when I use emojis as an effortless way of connecting with them. It keeps a nice light-hearted edge to our conversation and doesn't come across too clingy.

One set of emojis that many people use when text flirting are the colorful heart emojis. There are plenty to choose from, in different colors and shapes, each with different meanings. But what do all the different colorful heart emojis mean exactly?

What do the colorful heart emojis mean?

If you find yourself scratching your head and wondering what the different types all mean, fear not. Let's run through the different kinds and what they symbolize, so that you stay on top of your flirty text game!

#1 Blue heart. Blue emoji hearts can be used for a variety of emotions and meanings. On one hand, they symbolize a deep attraction. Think deep waters, mysterious oceans, and stability.

They can be meant as a way of expressing unfathomable depths for someone who feels a meaningful connection.

On the other hand, they also symbolize something much filthier. People use blue emoji hearts to express enjoyment in sexual water sports, as well as indicating a fetish for BDSM. Be aware of the double meaning of this one and attentive to the context that you use them in, so that people know what your intent is!

#2 Green heart. A lot of people use the green heart emoji to show a connection with a much greener, healthier side of themselves. They express their spiritual side that feels connected to Mother Nature, and an earthiness that encompasses them.

It's regularly used by vegetarians looking to find, and flirt, with like-minded veggies. This way they narrow down who would be compatible, based on their moral standpoint when it comes to animal welfare.

Green emoji hearts also indicate possessiveness or jealousy in relationships. Or used to find love on St. Patrick's Day on various dating apps and Instagram.

#3 Yellow heart. Yellow emoji hearts symbolize a pureness of heart. They are synonymous with new beginnings, youth, sunshine, spring, purity, and strength. These are all great personality traits to have that you may want to express to the person on the receiving end of your texts. This heart is the simplest way of doing that.

The color yellow itself radiates and conveys a burst of light, hope, and clarity. It is regularly used on Snapchat, as it appears next to the name of the contact that you snap the most, representing an amiable connection between you both. This emoji represents a heart of gold, so use it accordingly to demonstrate your warmth of character.

#4 Purple heart. This heart emoji is regularly used to portray glamour or wealth. In many countries and different cultures, the color purple represents regality and power. It's already a very deep, rich looking color, and so it's not surprising that it often symbolizes royalty.

Using this emoji mirrors those kinds of ambitions, and many fashion-forward people and celebrities use them. It is also used to show your flirty, sparkling personality, and to communicate to your mate that you prefer the finer things in life.

It is used in text conversations between loved ones in the military and armed forces, as it demonstrates the attributes of duty, honor, and compassion.

#5 Red heart. As universally recognized, the red heart is synonymous with true love. It represents passion, deep connection, romance, friendship, and unconditional love. It can be used in romantic and non-romantic situations, as it is often sent to friends and family on the end of text messages.

On Snapchat, a red heart emoji appears next to contacts that are your number one BF for more than two weeks in a row. This blood-red emoji conveys an all-around sense of pure love. Due to its flexibility in meaning, it can be used in a variety of contexts.

#6 Sparkling heart.  This heart with stars around it is used regularly on Instagram by celebrities and fashion divas. For some, it is a way to symbolize intense love or wearing your heart on your sleeve. It represents a sparkling personality, out there for everyone to see.

It has also been used to try and gain more attention on Instagram and Twitter posts, as it catches people's eye. The bright pink and the gleaming sparkles, are difficult to ignore and became a favorite among most emoji users.

#7 Triple hearts. A triple heart emoji is mostly used to promote body positivity. It essentially means loving yourself three times over and is regularly used alongside the hashtags “curvy” or “peachy.” Wherever this emoji is used it shows the person sending it out is comfortable and confident in their own skin, which is a huge turn-on for the lover they text.

It celebrates femininity and encourages others to embrace the idea of not conforming to beauty standards. This form of self-love has garnered a lot of awareness lately, and this emoji only helps spread the message of being happy with who you are.

#8 Envelope heart. Some look at this emoji and assume it symbolizes a love letter or a concealed kind of love. Sadly, it's usually just used for online payments or orders within dating apps. It can probably be used to represent something deeper, but the connotations already associated with it are almost too difficult to avoid.

If you're interested in someone, texting them this emoji just confuses them, unless you purchase something from them. When The Beatles first said “money can't buy me love”… they were probably right.

Now you'll be able to tell which hearts are meant to be casual, which are filthier, and which are amorous. Using them can be fun and effective, but always make sure that you know your heart emoji etiquette.
